The juicebox LOTR LCG Solo Player Tournament (#8) [January 22-28, 2012] [COMPLETED]

By juicebox, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

There should be a "next" in the second sentence. "at the end of the round/before the next round."

New score, but close to threating out. Eowyn, Theodred, Dunhere. No damage, dead Heros, or vps. Threat 45; rounds 4 (40). Score: 85. Encounters in this order: despair; spiders ring; mountains of mirkwood, ( which ended up drawing a warg); woodelf path; woodmans glade.

You don't count a round until you hit the refresh phase which is at the end of the round. So, in one sense, you begin with round "0" and then turn it over to "1" at the end of the round/before the beginning of the round. Thus, if finish the quest before the refresh phase, then you finish before the round marker goes up.

For example, let's say you played JtR: it is possible to quest through the whole first quest card in the opening quest phase. Then you go through the rest of the round, round tracker goes up to 1 at the end of the round. Then, let's say in the second round you heal all damage with a Lore of Imladris for the eagle, and fully quest through quest card 2 which sends you right on to quest card 3, where, voila! you have won and finished before ticking the round counter up to 2. Therefore, you used 1 COMPLETE round and a partial, but points would be only 10.

Hope that helps, probably someone else can make that clearer than I just did.

Ah, I misunderstood how that worked. My score would be 96 then.

Tried a questing deck with Éowyn, Frodo and Bilbo. Didn't work, never won a single game. Then I swapped Bilbo with Glorfindel. In my second game I got through, and Protector of Lórien made my die (and 2x Gandalf):

Heroes: Éowyn, Frodo, Glorfindel

Threat: 35

Damage: 2

Rounds: 40

Victory Points: 0

Result: 77

Encounters:

Setup: Despair

1. Mirkwood Bats, Caught in a Web (attached to Frodo)

2. Spider's Circle (travelled to)

3. Spider's Circle (travelled to)

4. Caught in a Web (attached to Frodo)

5. Wasted Proviant

The bats attacked me twice, but Glorfindel was able to heal all the damage on Éowyn (2) and Frodo (1). Used Frodo's ability once. Gollum had 4 damage and barely survived. Played Gandalf in rounds 2 and 5, and Protector of Lórien in round 1, which enabled me to get through 1B in one turn. Frodo got Fast Htich in the last round, so he wasn't completely useless in this adventure.

Another 4tries, another 3 wins......but only one that´s lower than my last.

Heroes: Theodred, Eowyn and Beravor (3 core sets and all APs)

Rounds: 6

Wounds: 0

Threat: 4

Victory points: 0

Score: 64

Setup:

Woodman´s Glade

Encounters:

1. The East Bight

2. Mountains of Mirkwood

3.Wood Elf Path

4. Wolf Rider and Attercopp

5. Mountains of Mirkwood

6. Great Spiderweb

7. Gollums Bite (canceled)

Setup and the first locations were a blessing as I could set up my deck. A H.Riversong in round 2 was also very helpful.

Wolf Rider with the BIG spider was not that bad as I could get rid of Attercopp with a scout who died blocking

and Gandalf and Beorn killing her. Wolfsrider was killed with Gadalfs 4 damage.

Treacheries normally don´t stand a chance due to A Test of Will.

The hardest part for me is stage 3B as I need to setup my questing characters to go past that stage in one go.

Wow! All treacheries and locations. Eowyn, Glorfindel, Frodo. (2 core sets; all aps.). No dead Heros, no damage, no vps. Threat 40; rounds 3 (30).

Set-up, gollum's bite (4 damage to glorfindel which I healed 1 per round.)

Opening round, wasted provisions vs. 13 questing, Heros plus escort from edoras.

Next round, great forest web vs 9 questing. Travel to forest web. ( also, had put UC on glorfindel)

Next round, caught in a web vs 9 questing. (frodo got the web).

Final round, wood elf path vs. 7 questing.

No enemies at all.

Whoops! All for a score of 70.

Hi,

I tried this quest today and manage to score a 77

Heroes : Eowyn, Theodred, Prince Imrahil

Pool of cards : 3 core sets + Journey to Roshgobel AP + Dead Marshes AP

Round markers : 4 (40)

Final threat : 40

Wounds : 1

Victory points : 4 (Hill Troll)

Total : 77

I got a 118! gran_risa.gif

Just wanted to note this game because I KILLED THE FREAKING ATTERCOP, ATTERCOP ON MY WAY! And some Mirkwood Bats! And a Wolf Rider! Travelled the East Bight TWICE*! Travelled the Spider's Circle TWICE!

Okay, Bilbo died**, and so did Rivendell Minstrell and Westroad Traveller, but I made it till the end, thanks to 2 x Sneak and Gandalf (got him via Mountains of Mirkwood which I explored via 2 x Riddermarks Finest, hahaha).

Love that picture of those horses who have been sent away and which return with Gandalf on their back who burns down Attercop, Attercop.

Brilliant, amazing game. And I didn't even use dwarves!

Heroes: Éowyn, Théodred, Bilbo

Threat: 48

Damage: 10

Rounds: 60

Victory Points: 0

Result: 118

Encounters:

Setup: East Bight

1. Spider's Circle

2. East Bight

3. Mountains of Mirkwood

4. Spider's Circle

5. Attercop, Attercop

6. Mirkwood Bats, Dry Watercourse

7. Wolf Rider, Caught in a Web

Notable Shadow Effects: Gollum's Anguish (+ 4 threat)

* Bilbo lost his third breakfast, so we had to travel back

** where the heck is "Ever Vigilant" when you need it?***

*** oops, looks like I discarded it in turn 1 to give Éowyn more WP...llorando.gif

Fantastic leptokurt!! gran_risa.gif Thanks for posting that one!

Okay, in my runs tonight, I was maxing out threat quite a lot. Then there was that one game when I drew 2 Attercop, Attercops back to back. llorando.gif

But, in my 5th game I finally managed a victory...

Heroes: Éowyn, Théodred, Glorfindel

Final Threat: 45

Dead Heroes: 8 (Théodred) [**** Hummerhornsenfadado.gif]

Hero Wounds: 4

VP: 0

Round Marker: 4 (40)

Final Score: 97

Ok, tried my luck too. Nothing too impressive compared to the other scores, but I am happy with the deck in general.

Score: 94

Heroes; Bilbo, Beravor, Denethor

Win on turn 9 (80)

Final threat: 14

damage: 0

VP 0

It felt just a little bit like stalling at the end, because I voluntarily waited a turn to sneak Gandalf another three times...

The score actually was 92 (not that it looks like it matters), because the final threat was 12 and not 14...

I played six times and didn't manage to get below 100. I seem to get lots of nasty enemies all the time in my games.

Score: 100

Heroes; Theodred, Beravor, Éowyn

Win on turn 7 (60)

Final threat: 40

damage: 0

VP: 0 (though I really think you should get some points for killing Attercop!)

At least 10 points.

Everyone who defeated that eight-legged ***** owns my deepest respect.

Congrats! aplauso.gif

Yeah, I'd say 6 points or so would be fair.

It seems pretty arbitrary sometimes, concerning which enemies/location are worth victory points.

And that's time (well, it's a little past time, actually... gui%C3%B1o.gif).

Champs! You're all champs!!
