For a friend

By Da_ghetto_gamer, in UFS General Discussion

So my friend who has been absent from UFS for a while now is looking 2 get back in and come with us 2 a local regional event the only problem is that his old decks and playstyles are out the window.....he played void in the beginning and somehow found his way 2 an all foil dee jay dread carnival deck that he rocked at world 2 years ago.

My question is if he was lookin 2 play control now kinda like he did back in block one with dhalsim what would be a good direction 2 go in 2 get him a deck he would enjoy 2 play and be good at the same time....void isnt very viable at the moment

Well he would probally want to play control if he played void so I would go with death /evil /order depending on his card pool .

are there any characters similair 2 *dhalsim* or are we goin 2 have 2 find another game plan?

if not any suggestions on characters i could look into 2 build him a deck?

Well there is no 8/20 that good but a void character with discard I would go with Jivatma.

Void is a lot better then most people give it credit for actually. It just got some new damage pump toys from R mika even but your looking for control so I would look into soiree and alba from the latest SNK. Soiree alows you to ready your foundations like mad and alba locks down your opponents staging area. If you want to add in some damage redux zangief has some decent ones and lizard mans foundations are all really good especially if your playing reversals. In fact Lizardman might be a good char to try. Use him with soiree's, jivatma's support and you have a pretty nice amount of toys there. Anyway just my two cents.

Hands down, go death-void Dhalsim.

both the new dhalsim, and pr dhalsim are pretty cool. they don't play the same as dhalsim1 but you could make a sweat void deck off stacking them.

I would go with the promo one since he can cheat resource chains so is an awesome tri symbol character if you want to play Dhalsim .

I would definitely suggest Sogetsu. He has a low handsize but he comes with built in card draw AND hand disruption, plus his support is amazing. Void/ Order is definitely a good way to go with the beast as he has a lot of cards that synergize well together.

i was just sugesting stacking. pr dhalsim is a lot better, he has anti talbain and good symbols.

O_o I completely forgot PROMO D could do that!!

thanks for the suggestions but he doesnt really like the new dhalsims but ill consider sogetsu that sounds like a decent choice for him since he really likes hand disruption considering he played the old school dhalsims that way.

and i think order is the way 2 go nowadays since is so good right now except for its lack of a way 2 stop cchax

Scott mence is awesome on void.

For more control based void basara has a lot of potential. His denial is based around card pool removal which is right now ok at best i think, but he does have a very good character only attack and his ability to burn players is hard to prepare for. He has a lot of cards that play differently than many other symbols may be used to so he hits a lot of good points.

Other than that any void deck that has a character that has order can use experenced combatant just as well as an order deck so its always a consideration.

Voids biggest issue is killing people though. Reppa is probably the best way to do it, with spinning beat a good secodary, but both reqire momentum which void is very much lacking short of one elena foundation that is very limited. Charlies Fierce punch is a great utility attack with a symbol that can strip hands, and if we get more good 5 check attacks in the future like high tide, Divine Folly might see a lot of play. Double sumersault kick I think gets special mention as its a momentum generator even if your not guile and has good numbers. Sonic boom extra is what it is.

One other thing to note is that it seems void is becoming the home of card pool clearing because of takis support, and I have found that the combo of Reppa, ways of punishment, glare from the abyss, and shadow acrobatics to be very nasty indeed. Often times after it hits your sitting pretty with more than a full hand and a clear card pool an your opponent is sitting prone with 6 less life.

If you want control like the old school days your gonna have to go order, but if you want attack based control, void really is something strong.
