bowl of brown triggering abilities

By crazyjinx, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hey all,

Only been playing for only about a week, but loving the game!

I had a question about how the card "bowl of brown" works. I was playing a game and bowl of brown was played on the KotS Renley Baratheon version. Renley has a passive ability that decreases the cost of all Baratheon characters by 1. Is this considered to be an ability that is triggered? So, does bowl of brown remove this ability or does Bowl of Brown only remove abilities that only occur as a RESPONSE.

Thanks!

Neither. A triggered ability is any ability that is prefaced by bold text - Response: or Any Phase: or the name of the phase it can be triggered in, like Marshalling: or Challenges: - that is triggered on a card in play. Passive abilities are not prevented by Bowl of Brown.
