Soul Stone Hunt

By Reatrea, in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

Hello all!!

One of our interrogator's final task before ascension to Inquisitor is to gather fifty Eldar soul stones without making enemies of the Imperium or the Eldar. (His Inquisitor is a bit of a radical, needless to say.)

One idea I had was that they would be prized as jewelry for their soft inner glow, so there was a jeweler who was collecting them.

I am trying to come with interesting ways for him to come across some more. Any ideas would be awesome!

Well it sounds to me that you've been given an impossible task as I can't see you being able to collect as many as fifty soulstones without pissing the Eldars off like little else and probably make them come after you. As for using Soulstones in jewelry it would probably work but it would make little sense as these are xenos artefacts that the Ordo Xenos are not likely to allow to circumlate in civilian society like other precious stones. Just wearing a soulstone in a necklace or a ring might get you captured and interrogated by the Inquisition and the artist making these items is probably going to get branded as a xenophile.

As for how to get hold of them I would think that killing Eldar and taking their stones from them is probably the easiest way while other possible sources may be the Cold Trade, Xenophiles and possibly Eldar ruins. I wouldn't put it past possibility that some Guardsman who've seen action against the Eldar might have collected a stone or two as soverneirs and manage to make off with it without being detected.

I apologize for not elaborating more. The jewelry was blackmarket.

Perhaps 50 is a bit much, I will speak to the main GM (He runs the main games, I do small games with players on the side) about it. (This is meant to be a side quest and is not the entire plot.)

So far he has 13, and all of those have been returned to the Eldar. Im just shifting through ideas to get him some more. The ruins are the next plan, your posting overnight must have psychically sent it into my mind. ;) The guardsman idea is a good one. I will have to play with that.

Thank you!

I'm only happy if I was able to be of some help.

The carrecenad might be found among jewellers, art collectors, old battlefields, the auction of the Haarlock estate in Disciples of the Dark Gods etc. Collecting them without angering the Eldar is not possible. These stones contain the souls of their kin, a mere human laying hands on them is already insufferable.

Actually if the goal is to return the soul stones to the eldar i think the Eldar will be very pleased and of course suprised.

Perhaps some sort of Slaaneshi follower have gotten hold of a certain amount and wants to sacrifice Slaaneshes holy number (6 i think) at one time to gain some favour.

Mutant Scavangers may have stumbled upon some graveyard like area for Eldars and have taken the Pretty "stones".

If the players know of some eldar outpost or base it could be raided by some other Alien (Orcs perhaps) and these aliens steal the stones for whatever reason (like the looks, want to use the souls etc).
