Expansions

Do you think they will release Print On Demand expansions for the other GOO's and investigators?

I hope we'll have not-POD expansions, with new Mythos, new Items, new Ingestigators, Epic Battles, new Adventures, Heralds, Guardians, Institutions, and so on, in order to recreate the Arkham experience in a different game (quicker, and with different mechanics). Also, I'd love to see ES mechanics applied to different settings, like At the Mountain of Madness. This should be a lot easier to achieve in ES than in AH: you need only the proper adventure cards, and then you may use AO, Investigators and so on from the core game; in AH, there will be huge problems (board, gate mechanics, and so on).

This game has a huge potential, and I really hope the guys at FFG will do a great job by expanding properly the game

There's some great fan-made custom Investigators and GOOs on BGG already- I tried a few out and they're really good.

FFG's gotta do some expansions sooner or later... Just imagine "The Antarctic Exhibit" or "Relics of the Dark Pharaoh"- the possibilities for a Museum are endless!

I would want something like seeing the Asylum, or the college. The college might even be the coolest because of all the areas within it. Id like to see a new enterance, new adventur cards and new monsters. Myths cards would be a plus, but I don't think they need to because from what I have played none of them are museum specific (I could be totally wrong). Whatever they do, I really want them to do this.

What are some locations or other Lovecraft tales you think they should do?

I just recently joined because of Elder Signs even though it hasn't launched here in Germany.

After playing some singleplayer sessions and 2 quick but successful 3 player games I have to say that I'd be really happy about expansion packs.
I like Traverser's statement about new places. Maybe a new gameplay mechanic that allows investigators to travel to new places (new enterances) like the Miscatonic, Innsmouth or Dunvich.

I'm not sure how to combine it to the "fight" against the Old One's at/in the museum but FFG surprised us all over time. Maybe they'll find an attractive new way to do it.

It would be great to have MU as a set of locations. Given the "size" of MU it would probably need multiple sets. I would like the library as a site with special cards given the book collection. :)

Someone on BGG posted a while ago that they tested a few different expansion ideas with Richard Launius at a convention. So I'm sure we'll see something, probably later this year.

That's good to know :-)

Of course, Miskatonic U! That'd be an awesome expansion...

They could do an Expansion that's all about the Evil Books- Necronomicon, Cultes de Ghouls, etc (or perhaps gazing into a certain multifaceted Gem?) Elder Sign adventures aren't always rooms, there's dreams and visions as well so poring over old Tomes could make for plenty of 'action'.

Maybe a Tome from said Expansion could open onto a "Second Page" card that's more difficult but with greater rewards, but only the person who read the first page can go there...

Why would you make a digital expansion for a tabletop game? It makes no sense!!! Of course this game has great potential for multiple expansions like Arkham has. I know I would invest in them.

I like the idea of an expansion that has investigators exploring Miskatonic U. Alternatively a couple of new investigators with an new ancient one (or two) would also work as an expansion, it doesn't need to be a new location.

I agree it doesn't need to be a new location. I think the expansion for the ipad version radically altered the game mechanics with spending clue tokens to open up R'yleh. But for the table top game, I think a good first expansion would just include more of what is in the original: item cards, characters, great old ones, adventure cards etc. I wouldn't object to expanding the concept outside of the museum to a broader location as long as it didn't change the game too much.

If you want new Investigators, Ancient Ones, Heralds, Guardians, Mythos Cards and more then they are already available, at least unofficial fan-created versions I made are available on BGG :)

Investigators > Unofficial Investigator cards (converted from all AH expansions)

Ancient Ones > New Ancient Ones, 4 from Dunwich Horror

Heralds and Guardians > Elder Sign: Abominations - Game Expansion
Herald - Great Old Ones
Herald - Shudde M'ell
Herald - Bokrug
Guardian - Nodens
Guardian, Hypnos

Mythos Cards > Elder Sign: Abominations - Game Expansion

(Abominations) Adventure Cards > Elder Sign: Abominations

Yes, hopefully not POD since the printing quality seems to be lower than that of the base games.

I'd like to see cards that add strategy and let you ramp up the difficulty. This could include new adventure cards, items, etc. but also maybe a new museum location card(s) with different options than the base game.

An entirely new location would be interesting but it would require an entire set of new cards that were themed for that location. Unless, we're talking location cards that are like the other world adventure cards; that would be a good addition.

The main focus, I would hope, would be on adding scalable difficulty and strategy/complexity (hopefully without too many added fiddly-bits and trackers). Maybe that's why we haven't seen an expansion yet because they're playtesting some interesting changes? I hope.

The Omens updates and expansion definitely seem to show that they're fiddling around with the game rules.

I would too love to see new expansions (but not print on demand ones, as I hate their lower quality). What I most look forward are some new mechanics that make the base game a bit more difficult for larger groups (perhaps made modular, so everyone can set the difficulty). Kind of like the Cthulhu expansion in the iOS version; although, I would much rather see FFG keeping the game inside the museum.

Personally, I'd like to see expansions that would be either/or - you can play the museum, or Miskatonic U, or Egypt, or South Pacific (like in the online version), but not a mix-match thing. We already have AH for the big and complicated games. Elder Sign is about simple, short and easy setup and play, and honestly, I love that about it. If I wanted to play a long and complicated game I'd just play AH instead. Elder Sign is for when a friend comes over and we have limited time for gaming or don't feel like getting out all the AH stuff.

Simply - expansions should be themathic and self-contained, at least for the most part.

And noooo print-on-demand ones, only "big" ones :)

I can't believe Mansions of Madness is getting a THIRD expansion before Elder Signs even gets even one. Hey FFG, how about expanding a game people actually LIKE? :<

I guess it doesn't matter too much since I've had little trouble (and a lot of fun!) translating Arkham Horror stuff into Elder Signs, but it sure would be nice to see a professional go at it.

I'd like to join the real expansion and no PoD faction! gran_risa.gif

Any guesses what they will bring up for the Arkham Nights event?

My guess is just a new Ancient One, and maybe the new Investigators they made for the digital game (but probably not). As to which Ancient One, my bet is one of the more straightforward ones like Tsathoggua or maybe even an updated version of a previous Ancient One, nothing too terribly exciting.

A real expansion would be awesome - and if they follow in the suit of ES and Mansions so far, borrowing art and some design should make the process somewhat easy - to hit each Arkham expansion to break down into a smaller scale for ES shouldn't be too easy. It would be kind of neat if they even did them each in their own setting instead of all the museum. Seems like so much material available just considering what they've already covered in Arkham I would have to imagine this is in the works for sooner or later.

I think it might be neat to even see a few new dice as well!

Why not all in the museum? Visiting exhibits would fit quite well I think.

They should do an expansion much like the one for ES: Omens, where you can journey to the Pacific Rim :)

I'm thinking (hoping) something is announced at Arkham Nights. I feel it in my bones!

Just say "no" to PoD. :)
