How to convert Warhammer Fantasy Battle Monsters to WFRP 3rd Ed.

By Ganion, in WFRP Rules Questions

Hi there,

and sorry, if this has been asked before, but I did not find any entry on this.

I was wondering if anybody has come up with a way and table to convert all those cool monsters etc. from Warhammer Fantasy Battle to WFRP 3rd?

Thanks for any hints or links!

Maybe all you have to do is:

1. Come up with a stat line you think fits best, relative to the other monsters in WHFRP in the race you've chosen to convert from

2. Choose the action cards that fit best from the Creatures Guide or the Creatures Vault.

3. Maybe add a special rule or two for flavor (Like the Giant falling). Or maybe just role play their behavior on the fly as a GM. I feel like you could even borrow a lot of special rules, considering how comprehensive the rules are for existing creatures.

Most WFB monsters are already represented in WFRP.

However, the base stat line should, for the most part and for those that match, translate directly.

i.e a S of 3 in WFB should equal St of 3 in WFRP.

In general, most enemies will have variable A/C/E and action cards decided by the GM anyway, so its just a matter of choosing cards and assigning a reasonable A/C/E pool.

There isn't necessarily a hard and fast formula for this, as it gets pretty subjective.

Movement M -

Weapon skill (WS -

Ballistic SkillBS - (Becomes agility)

Strength (S)- Add 1

Toughness (T) add 1

Will (W) equivalent

Int (I) equivalent

Attacks (A) - not used

Leadership Ld- choose your total of ACE dice from here and add 3

Weapons: find equivalent

Special Rules: Find equivalent

Stance: Do what feels right (Green or Red) Peons shouldn't get any.

Here's a dude that did some: www.cutlass.be/rpg/wfrp/creatureview.php

I don't think it would be easy to do a straight conversion. There are a lot of differences of scale between the two systems. I've made an effort to outline them here.

WFB models, according to 8th edition, have the following characteristics:

(M) Movement Allowance

(WS) Weapon Skill

(BS) Ballistic Skill

(S) Strength

(T) Toughness

(W) Wounds

(I) Initiative

(A) Attacks

(Ld) Leadership

(M), (A), and (Ld) are probably not necessary for WFRP3 but they might influence the creature's A/C/E amounts. Also, the scale of numbers in WFB is different than WFRP3. For instance, humans in WFB have a (S) of 3 usually, in WFRP they can be anywhere from a 2 up to a 6. Giants on the other hand have a (S) of 6 in WFB and a Strength of 8 in WFRP3. So you'd need to take the WFB model's stat, compare it with a few other models that already have WFRP3 stats, and come up with a good fit.

It's probably a lot easier to do the other way around, going from WFRP3 to WFB, which I may or may not try in my campaign. Depends if the players want to do some mass battles on a large scale.
