Pits n Doors

By playernumberone_2, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi,

I have a question which may come up if the OL has two pit traps on his hand. Say he creates two pits next to each other in a corridor in front of a door. As far as I can see, this door would be blocked from the pit side. Is this right?

Another question concerning pits: How can you jump over them? Only in a straight line or also with "a slight curve" (i.e. not the square on the opposite side from the starting point but the square to the left or to the right of that)?

Thanks!

In answer to the first part of your question, no, two pits do not block the door, because you can open the door from inside the pit (you still have los and are adjacent to the spaces immediately next to a pit)

In answer to the second half of your question, I don't think the rules come right out and say one way or another. My rule of thumb is that you can jump to any space adjacent to a pit to which you have LoS.

Thanks for your answers. They look right, since they negate some ugly exploits.

After replying to your post, I remembered that there's actually a treachery trap in one of the expansions that creates a two space pit directly in front of the door :-)

And is this handled differently?

Welcome Mat I think is what its called. It creates a 2 space wide pit in front of a door when the Heroes open it, so the door would be open even if the card is played due to the triggering condition (unless there was something special on the card I'm not remembering).

Just to get it straight, since i seem to have overestimated a pit's negative aspects:

With FAQ, a creature/ hero in a pit gains LOS to each adjacent square. That means a hero could attack even any creature adjacent when in a pit?

that menas you dont need to be in front of it litteraly, but on the side.

Correct. As the FAQ alludes to, this fixes an issue with Grapple where a monster can immobilize a hero in a pit where the hero is unable to see or attack the monster grappling it.
