I will give a more detailed report once this tournament is over. It took me about 15 games to get here, in two of which I got thwarted by the encounter deck (in one I got Lights of the Dead in the final escape check - ouch!).
Did you get nightfall or two of the others that raise threat?
"The Lights of the Dead" and "Through the Mist".
Little better, but had to pass through the lights of the dead right during staging and right before the final test. Bilbo, frodo, eowyn. No damage, 1 round, final threat 21. Score: 31. Encounters: setup---marsh worm; then pursued by shadow, but I had quested everyone with PoL on frodo, so no effect. Final encounter having quested eowyn and bilbo for 5 against the worm at 1, was the lights of the dead. Used gandalf at 4 against impossible bog (2) and wargs. Phew! Then just had frodo left but he had PoL and two cards in my hand. Got fens &mires (2) and brown lands. Threw down my last two cards and won 4 to 2.
Got the AP today (together with RtM and KD!) and played a few games. I managed a 38 on my second try. If only Gandalf had showed up!
Heroes: Éowyn, Bilbo, Glóin
Heroes Threat: 28
Damage: 0
Rounds: 10
Victory Points: 0
Result: 38
Encounters were:
Setup: Impassable Bog
1. Treacherous Fog
2. Giant Marsh Worm
Switched to Frodo and got lucky with the encounter cards. This is really another luck of the draw scenario that could benefit from some tournament rules.
Heroes: Éowyn, Frodo, Glóin
Heroes Threat: 17
Damage: 0
Rounds: 10
Victory Points: 0
Result: 27
Own: 3 Core sets and all APs. 50 card deck
Heroes: Eowyn, Gloin, Beravor
Win on turn 4 (10)
Final threat 25
damage 0
victory points 0
score 55
(You dont count the 10pts for the round you win on right? My understanding is its 10 for each round that ends and you have not completed the quest. If I'm wrong my score is 65)
Hi,
Here is my score for this quest : 48
Heroes : Eowyn, Theodred, Aragorn (3 core set + Journey to Roshgobel + Dead Marshes)
Round Markers : 2 (20)
Final Threat : 28
Wounds : 0
Victory Points : 0
Total : 48
Man that wasn´t fun anymore......2 hours of playing. And I totally agree with the luck dependency. Most of the time I had good cards but bad encounters or good encounters and bad cards. Took me ages to have good encounters and good cards. I really liked Carrock.......that wasn´t so luck dependant.
Heroes:
Eowyn, Frodo and Theodred ( 2 core sets and every AP )
Threat: 15
Wounds: 0
Rounds: 1
Final score: 25
Starting Hand: Gandalf, Sneak Attack, Westfold Horsebreaker, Secret Paths, PoL, GG……then draw an Escort.
Setup: Treacherous Fog
Turn 1: Play Escort and hope for a good encounter
Quest with all and discard Pol to Eowyn
Encounter: Lights of the Dead ( 1 token on Gollum and threat up to 25 ) Stage 1 is done!
Gollum gets 2 more tokens at the end of the quest phase.
Turn 2: Draw another GG and played a sneak Gandalf to quest and a GG ( threat down to 15 )
Quest with Gandalf and Theodred
Encounter: Evil Storm, Stage 2 is done!
Final test with Eowyn and Frodo ( 6 against 2…… Gollum captured )
Finally got in a game tonight...
Heroes: Éowyn, Beravor, Théodred
Threat: 29
Wounds: 1
Victory Points: 0
Rounds: (20)
Final Score: 50
Got in a few more... one was absolutely epic that ended in utter abandon to an avalanche of hungry trolls.
But this one went a little better for me:
Heroes: Éowyn, Bilbo, Théodred
Threat: 22
Wounds: 0
Victory Points: 0
Rounds: (20)
Final Score: 42
Theodred, Eowyn, Glorfindel
Final Threat: 30
Rounds: 1
Total: 40
Nightfall followed by two Evil Storms made this an easy walk through. Sadly Gandalf was no where to be seen.
Wraith428
Theodred, Eowyn, Glorfindel
Final Threat: 20
Rounds: 1
Total: 30
Ah Gandalf showed up... with two Sneak Attacks in the openning hand. Sadly so did a Wargs. Gandalf Sneaked in to the Quest Phase, blasted the Warg, the fellowship felt a little Despair but completed Phase 1. Sneaked Gandalf in again for the escape check Success.
Round 2 saw Gandalf come into play the old fashioned way. Gandalf and Gorfindel quest, Wisp of Pale Sheen shows up, Phase 2 Complete. Eowyn and Theodred do escape check and win 6 to 2.
Wraith428
Still haven't cracked the 20 point Round barrier, but I did try a few more times tonight and "snuck" this one through...
Heroes: Éowyn, Bilbo, Théodred
Threat: 18
Wounds: 0
Victory Points: 0
Rounds: (20)
Final Score: 38
Alright folks... that's time.
Good job this week. How fascinating to see how each of these scenarios play in comparison to one another!
Top Ten Hall of Fame updates will be posted shortly... along with the next Solo Player Tournament.
Thanks to all to participated!
