Eihort. His difficulty?

By Acebob, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

I have heard some people say that Eihort is one of the easier GOOs. That seems to be quite the opposite within my group. With the number of cultists out and the objective to seal 6 gates it seems like one investigator inevitably explodes into little Broodlings which typically summons Eihort. He is even more difficult in final combat, since when you die all of the brood tokens heal him. I think my group has a 1-3 record against Eihort.

What is everyone else's experience with Eihort?

I'm with you. I don't find Eihort especially easy by any means. Of course I imagine if you seal no gates, kill no cultists and just concentrate on getting weapons and clues for the final battle he's a pushover, as most AO's are in those circumstances. To me such a strategy is a great way to win the game while at the same time taking ALL of the fun out of it. What's the point of even playing then?

For those who try to win by sealing six gates I would say Eihort is in the difficult to defeat category. I find him to be a fairly challenging opponent, and enjoy playing against him.

This is what the numbers say, at least.

According to these gathered stats, Eihort is medium-tier for final battle, but is particularly easy to close/seal.

Eihort's largest threat is apparent when you try to seal him. However, if you spread out the sealing duties across all the investigators, Eihort's brood effect is diminished. Since clues can become precious commodities in games, this is not such a rare strategy, even in games without Eihort.

Eihort becomes less threatening with more investigators, because the sealing task can get spread more and more thin. Remember that an investigator who receives his first brood token has 0 chance of being devoured by it.

Also notice that Kingsport AOs have an unfair boost in Final Battle/Overall difficulty because of the Epic Battle Cards. These stats were gathered from over 1000 reports, and most likely used base game/Dunwich AOs with NO Epic Battle.
