I'm just curious if there are any current plans to re-print the Dreamlands cycle in the new, 60 card format. There are some really cool cards in the cycle (Zoogs!) but I don't want to buy 3 copies of the 40 card packs if I don't have to. I couldn't find anything on the upcoming page so I thought I'd ask here!

There hasn't been an official announcement yet, but I think we're all expecting it to happen.

Personally, I'll be surprised if they haven't finished reprinting Dreamlands by the end of the year but we'll see.

Reprints are based on stock. When FFG runs low on or out of stock they'll announce a reprint. As long as they have some in their warehouse, I wouldn't really expect one. End of the year for an announcement sounds about right but it will probably be 3-6 months after that before you are likely to really see them in the store if I had to guess.

If you need them buy them now. If you don't just wait. Depends on how important the cards in there are to your deck. You could always buy one of each of the important ones and just wait to complete the set.

That policy works well for straight reprints or maybe very small updates (the kind where you can download the new rules or whatever). No reason to print more when you're sitting on a pile of the exact same thing.

In this case "reprint" is more like a "2nd edition" or "rerelease" or something, the whole point is that it's not the same thing (or else we'd just buy the current ones). And honestly very few people are going to buy three packs of the old stuff knowing that they can buy just one pack of the new release. Plus on top of that, the next packs may incorporate some errata which is also beneficial.

What all this means is that whatever pile of old decks they might have, they aren't going anywhere very fast, at least not without some sort of big discount to make it worth people's while. They'd have to be practically giving them away. The only other alternative I can think of is to artificially force players to buy them against their will by claiming the reprint won't be for a long time or something that puts additional pressure on people to buy the bad packs.

They have already stated that they will reprint packs as they go out of print. IT is up to each player to decide how they want to handle that. FFG isn't forcing anything. If there is something important to you then you'll buy it. If there isn't, then you won't. You don't expect FFG to just dump there product and take it as a loss do you? That would be a bad and expensive business decision. They'll eventually sell. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go on sale at somepoint if they are sitting on a lot, but they had their Christmas sale and didn't put them up on it... I wouldn't expect any sale of them until end of Spring if such a thing is even being contemplated.

They certainly don't have to throw it out. But they could do something like bundle them in 3-packs and sell them at a discounted rate perhaps. Or even package all 18 packs to make the full cycle and sell that at a bundle discount.

Anyway, I hadn't been aware that they had already said they wouldn't reprint until old stock was cleared.

It's a significant problem on all sides to be sure.
