Two Guys, One Throne - The Journey of Two New Players

By botounami, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

It's been an absolute pleasure to get advice on these forums over the past few weeks, and to catch up on a ton of posts here and in the Rules forum (as I've learned from other games, Rules is often the most important place!). I'm a member of a website called Team Covenant, and Game of Thrones is certainly our most recent obsession. We play a cadre of what we feel are top-notch games, and so were incredibly pleased to find that Fantasy Flight has done some fantastic work with AGOT and LOTR.

That said, we've launched a new podcast in which we'll be discussing the game in-depth, including all of our constantly-learned lessons as well as commentary on our decks, all of the Houses, and the deeper concepts that make a game tick. This first episode is all about giving a background of who we are, why we love the game, and the decks that we've constructed right off the bat. It also contains the all-important "best advice for a new player". I'll be curious to see if others here agree :)

You can stream the podcast or download it here. We hope you'll give it a look, and I personally can't wait to keep getting better at the game and more involved in this open and helpful community!

Two Guys, One Throne - The First Episode

Cheers!

I will download and support you because any extra agot discussion is a good thing

cheers

Awesome can't wait to be at a non-work computer that blocks mp3 downloads. About time someone put together a podcast for this great game. happy.gif

This was pretty awesome to listen to! I had to use my phone since I was at work, but the audio quality was actually really awesome. I'm sad to hear that you don't play Baratheon. :(

Nice job Steven & Robert! Always good to hear familiar faces. :)

BTW this is superfly from the old MP & PP & TC forums.

Yeah, nice sound.

I found it very funny that the podcast name is similar in structure to the other one going around ("Two Champs, One Chump"), especially since i think you might have not heard of it.

I like also that the 2 podcasts don't have anything in common (besides being of AGOT). This one is for new players learning with the comentators at the same time, and the other one is especially good for old ccg era players that know each other and the specifics of the game and of the competitive meta.

For me, a player that have been playing for almost a year not competitive, that would want but can't play in a tourney, listening to both kind of appeals to me.

So, congratulations on your new podcast!!

I'm getting a fair amount of "echo-y" sound on the underside of the podcast.

That said. Great job. Two AGoT podcasts. I'm a happy camper.

...I was able to figure out who the chump guy was on that other show.
So, who's this "throne" character? Despite his silent stance, I hear good things about the dude.

Hah, I actually hadn't heard about the Two Champs, One Chump cast until I went here to put this one up. Hilarious! I hope those guys don't think we're copying or slighting them in any way. Perhaps it just means that from now on all AGOT podcasts must follow the Two X, One Y paradigm. It appears to be the only winning formula!

I've got to say, you guys are amazing. To see this kind of support pour out is something that I've never seen in a gaming community before. And the humor is also striking. It certainly gets me excited to play AGOT in the future, and hopefully meet some of you at some upcoming conventions and tournaments.

Thanks for the support!

Lol, haven't you been posting here for awhile? How'd you miss 2 Champs and a Chump?

But more seriously, I'll listen to the show as soon as I get the chance, but knowing how my week is, it's gonna be a busy schedule. Still, I agree on the naming scheme. Everything should use the 2X1Y scheme.

So where are you guys based out of anyway? I'm going to guess the upper East coast?

Ummm....apparently that was a lame attempt by me at a dig......

Don't worry, I picked up on it. :P

We're actually based out of Tulsa, OK. It would be a huge surprise if we sounded like Northeasterners!

Wow you are actually the closest to the Missouri meta! Which does the 2 Champs 1 Chump podcast. lol There must be something in the water. :P

That's why I like you.

Wow, based out of Tulsa huh? That means when we record 2 Champs and a Chump in Neosho, MO, you are less than 2 hours from us!

Regardless, we need to get our metagroups together. We will be hosting the Moonboy Classic tournament in March, and like previous years, we also hope to host a regional event in the May/June time frame.

I would offer to listen, but ummm, I don't even listen to my own podcast, so I make no promises. I will do everything I can to help support you though.

Tulsa? AWESOME! We used to see some guys from a strong Tulsa meta a few years back. Yeah, we really need to get some meta crossover going, and as Dobbler said, we highly encourage you guys to attend the Moonboy Classic here in a couple months. Maybe we could record a group episode sometime.

Wow, that's fantastic! Keep me updated on the Moonboy tourney and we can bring a minimum of 5-6 from Tulsa assuming the scheduling works out. We're about to start growing the community here so that number might (hopefully) explode.

That said, can you make sure I only play the "chump" and none of the "champs"? :)

Be careful, that chump is a "champion level player."

To be fair, that means practically nothing lengua.gif

QFT!

Just listened to your premiere episode, and I quite enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to hear your future discussions. And as much as I enjoy the 2 Champs and a Chump podcast, it's very refreshing to hear a Game of Thrones podcast made by people who know how to record proper audio. ;)
