GCC Test deck 3 (All-Chaos Terry 3)

By CeeJayBee2, in UFS Deck Building

Terry 3

4 Vulcan Punch
4 Neo Raging Storm
4 Fatal Disruptor
3 Homing Water Dragon Cane

15 Attacks

4 Valeria’s Shop
4 Olcadan’s Mentoring

8 Assets

2 Tag Along

2 Actions

4 Blood Runs True
4 Lord of the Makai
4 Red Lotus of the Sun
4 Saikyo Ryu
4 Billiard Player
4 Bitter Rivals
4 Oral Dead
4 Lesser of Many Evils
3 N-Type Human

39 Foundations

This deck had to be made, for one, because it’s Terry, and second, to compare the power of Neo Raging Storm to Fire Kick or Feline Spike—other preferred methods of finishing off opponents. You might also notice the inclusion of Homing Water Dragon.

I was the only one to ever pilot a deck like this in testing, and thus I only have my own opinions and experience to speak from, but I would never play a deck like this in a tournament. There are far too many low control checks for my taste, and I hate drawing more than one Neo Raging Storm per game. If I were to begin to improve the deck, I would likely drop Raging Storm to a single copy and replace the rest with Fire Kick, dropping Water Dragon entirely.

The deck, however, was not without its highlights. Multiple 2 Raging Storms are fun, almost Suzako-like in terms of game-ending power and numerical efficiency, but let’s face it, those are sub-optimal plays for this environment. The foundation base is solid and Valeria’s Shop allows Terry to behave like a true 8 handsize character, I wouldn’t play the deck without it. I had considered Unorthodox Training, as it worked well with our Promo Alex, but with Terry it was rather lackluster. The same goes for Pidgeon Games.

In summary, cute and fun, but inconsistent, and well, fair to play against.

…but that’s not what we’re aiming for

I can see plently of things wrong with this deck... for starters your win condition is lame in the sense that multiple Raging Storm is unnecessary, and you lack Dash Low, Kuzuyu-Reppa, Soul of Ling-Sheng Su, Double Cyclone Punch, Punching Bag, Commitment to Excellence, Powerful Style. The ways the deck could be improved upon are endless. You probably had plenty of trouble pulling of foundation chains since only 2 foundations in the deck dual-symbol. The new Balrog support can make an excellent punch deck, the Terry support has some solid cards, as does the Rock Howard support.

This deck can be made very excellent, you just picked a very janky way of doing it.

Excuse me, but there's no need for improving this deck at all. Any attack you can name is just as interchangeable as any I can come up with. Damage is not the issue. If you'll notice, the attacks all chain off of chaos. Damage pumps and life gain are also irrelevant, as are silly assets like punching bag. Perhaps you're new to the forums, so maybe you missed the intent behind the deck. We made this to see what Raging Storm could do, and also to see what Water Dragon could do. We know full well how powerful Reppa is. The foundations chaining are a non-issue, we know how to dual-symbol around here, and the worst way to do it is to play essentially blank foundations in an attempt to increase foundations per turn. So thanks for the input, but you may want to read a bit more closely before commenting.

well then...

I guess I should start out with "no, I'm not new to the forums" but hey, it's not like the average joe player gets recognition on the forums, but that's hardly an issue. I should also say that you should learn to take criticism. You posted a deck with the intent of "to compare the power of Neo Raging Storm to Fire Kick or Feline Spike—other preferred methods of finishing off opponents." and in no way mentioned you wanting to experiment with Water Dragon. I responded by saying that your deck does not show the power of Neo Raging Storm, but rather uses a janky combo that you yourself stated doesn't work properly. Not only that, you also said that this deck is not what you were aiming for. Am I wrong to assume that means you wish for the deck to improve?

My suggestions for changing the attack base to better play and abuse Neo Raging Storm (with Double Cyclone to pump up damage and Dash Low to make the check easier to pass) are hardly wrong. Not to mention the fact that running 4 Neo Raging Storm's, you're going to spend time with dead cards in your hand. Oh, and why switch your attack base to All? Well, Tag Along only shares Wind/All and in this deck if you play tag along to grab back a card you need, your opponent knows you're not going to be throwing

And I never mentioned that you can't dual symbol. However your foundation base right now limits the cards that you can play on your turn, and as block on an opposing turn. Am I saying you don't know this? no, but it is a weakness of the deck that can be fixed. Powerful Style is not in anyway a filler foundation. You will not always get what is necessary to kill people, even as a psuedo 8-hs and Terry's ability, you will be able to keep yourself alive through most of what an aggro deck can throw at you. Commitment to Excellence? 6 check, dual symbol, damage pump. You need to kill your opponent, and I guess throwing 3-Neo Raging Storms in a single turn will kill most everyone, but that's hardly a stable kill condition in block 3. Also, even if you had no current problem dual symboling, it will come up considering say... your only answer to Olcadan's Mentoring is off of Chaos while the majority of your best foundations are off of All. You're limited in the number of foundations you can play per turn, and when it comes to blocking the chances of you being left with cards in hand you can't play due to symbols is high.

if you didn't wish for comments on the deck, then don't post it on the forums. if you wish to have a specific kind of comment, then mention that in your post. Don't put words into people's posts that aren't there. and finally, if you wanted comments on how to possibly make Water Dragon + Neo Raging Storm work, you should have said so.

-4x Vulcan Punch
-4x Fatal Disruptor
-4x Blood Runs True
-4x Bitter Rivals
-4x Saikyo-Ryu

+4x Double Cyclone Punch
+4x Dash Low
+4x The King of Fighter's 2006
+4x Soul of Ling-Sheng Su
+4x Kabuki Artist

simple suggestions to drop the control pieces and the attacks that don't help Neo Raging Storm, add in hand-**** and a way to actually use N-Type Human as well as recural. obviously without your control pieces thing's like 6 check Felicia may be an issue, but if you're a fan of the cops and forethough I'm sure you can find room in the deck somewhere. Mayhap even throw in a Chinese Boxing or 3 to commit opposing LotM or Ikari Warrior to just say no. Since you seemed to have misunderstood before, this is ideas to make the combo work better.

You might notice 4 other decks out there under the label of test deck. You may also notice that this one is listed as the third one. We set this up to knock it down. To learn what we could and then move on. Criticism is very important and useful when its relevant and informed and I never have a problem with it. Let's just call it even and leave it at that.
