What exactly "count 8 STR" mean? Does it mean that you used 8 STR during the challenge? Or simply that you have characters of 8 STR or more in play?
It means when you counted up your Str for the challenge, it was 8 or more. So it refers to the characters you had in the challenge.

also in melee im pretty sure this takes into account the title STR as well, not just the char STR. So if you had 5 char STR +3 Title STR you could still trigger it.
