Best team?

I know that the teams are pretty well balanced, but are some teams stronger than others?

The first game we played it was humans, wood elves, skaven, and chaos who won in that order. My wife was the humans and she won, but she lamented the fact that there was no one to grab the ball. I was the skaven and found that they were pretty fast with some guys for tackling.

Last night I played my wife again and it was my orcs against her wood elves and I crushed her. She was able to grab the ball, but I always had a bigger orc tackle her and get the ball back into the mid zone. I find the orks a pretty solid group. Any other favorites or opinions on how some teams are better than others?

All I have noticed so far is that in every game, one of the losing players has loudly proclaimed that his team was worthless and unbalanced against the other teams. Funny thing is, it always seems to be a different team that gets ranted about...

human has noone the grab the ball?

the have the strongest ball getters in the game (besides star player). human blitzers

tackle a SP2 ball carrier, ball is in the middle and grab it.

I have my biggest wins always rushing for starplayers and team upgrades with Human. managed to break the 70 fans mark once in a 2 - player game

I was talking to some of the Fantasy Flight employees at Gen Con this last year when I was demoing the game. They removed both the Skavens and the Wood Elves from the demonstration. They mentioned that all the teams were balanced when playing a regular length game as described in the rules of play. When playing a shorter game (as we did at Gen Con), the Skavens had a slight advantage (only winning 10-15% more), while the Wood Elves were weaker. They mentioned the reverse was true when playing longer games.

I agree that the teams are well balanced. The really impressive thing about BBTM is that whilst the teams are balanced, each has it's own style of play. They feel "right". For anyone who hasn't played the miniatures game I can confirm that the teams mirror the various styles of play you would expect. so, the teams are balanced but i am interested in what peoples favorite teams are? so far I think that the dwarf''s are my favorite. stand firm is a highlight winning skill, invest in plenty of staff cards and get linemen to use the passing coach. Awesome

it's funny, i played my wife after reading this in the forums, she chose Wood Elves, and I picked Skaven. Her first game ever(and mine, but i'm a rules *****, and i do my research before ever playing games), and she kicked my ass… Not sure why Wood Elves are considered weak in 2 player, i think they seem quite strong….

However, Humans i feel are particularly strong in their all-roundedness… Yes, their blitzers are amazing, but the fact that they usually have a player in hand that can do what needs to be done to get or keep the upper hand is really strong. I've struggled the most with Dwarves, although that being said i won my first 4 player game as Dwarves, but i was behind up until the last turn, and a few end game fan points just pushed me over the line (we were playing WITH Salary Caps).

All that said and done though, i really am impressed with generally speaking, how well rounded everyone is. No matte what race I am, and what race ui'm up against, there's always something to be aware/afraid of, or a card you hope they don't have.

Even though i've only recently got this game, i'm dieing for an expansion!

Most of the teams work pretty well in the first round, and are more effected by luck of the draw/dice than by inherent strengths of a given team.

In my experience, humans are strongest, and skaven > wood elves. Both of these are for the same reason== While the awesomeness of human blitzers cannot be ignored, it's really the Team Upgrades that set humans and skaven apart and make them so powerful. I don't have the cards in front of me, but the upgrade that gives the humans a skill of any kind is amazing, as are the several ones that reward them for having star players. The skaven upgrade where they get 2 fans for losing a highlight will almost always make or break the game depending on the time its acquired.
