Just wanted to clarify this....if I am playing a Solo Game (1 player)....my Ranged Ally's, according to the RANGED rules, cannot be used to attack enemies I am engaged with? Considering the rule says "other players".

Can these Ranged characters be used to defend? In essence, they cannot be used to attack but, they potentially, can be used as expendable characters to take the brunt of an attack.

Ranged cards are exactly like any other card except they can ALSO attack into the engagment area of your partner player. The ability has no function in solo games apart from Journey to Rasgobell-what-ever-it-is-spelt as there are cards that can only be defended or attacked by ranged toons. You can still use them though if you wish, and they will attack and defend iun a solo game exactly like any other card.
