I like the Axis units, especially the Apes and Zombies. However, since it is obvious that they are virtually identical (save cost, health and damage resilience) do you think it is wrong to field five Apes and treat them as zombies? Essentially it becomes a squa dof 5 apes that now have damage resilience. Of course any heroes who join the squad would have to be apes acting as zombie heroes (a gorilla with a big chain saw)!

Another question, what is the new point cost for Zombies? The initial card says 31 but I saw another card that says 29.

Sounds a bit confusing for me. Bought another box of Zombies today and the card say's 31pts.

The revised point costs listed in Operation Seelowe, and the current cards, say 31 points, so I'd go with that as official.

As for using Gorillas as Zombie proxies, so long as your opponent doesn't mind, you could go for it. Simply make sure they are clearly identifiable even after taking casualties if you're using actual Gorilla units as well.

I doubt it would stand for a tournament with the greater pressure on play, but it should be fine for casual play if your opponent knows and doesn't mind.

Make sure any new players you're teaching are fully aware as well. New players don't need extra confusion.

I'm not hugely fond of the zombie models, simply because I'm not hugely fond of ugle models (they are good sculpts, just of ugly things). I can understand someone wanting to proxy something else while using the unit's abilities.

Oh dont get me wrong, I like the zombie models just fine. I just prefer the apes.

Once the zombie heros come out I can see myself using zombies more. I use them now but not as much as the apes.

I may pick up another box of zombies once the 2 heros comes out.
