Biology not covered under Scholastic Lore (Beasts) is under what?

What Scholastic Lore would cover plants, fungi, single celled organisms, and other forms of non-animal life?

This question is coming up for planning an Explorator (Genetor) build.

Xenos biology would be Forbidden Lore (Xenos) in my opinion, while for basic human anatomy I would ask for a Medicae Test...

But if you are talking about topics like genetics or molecular biology .... maybe a (hard) Scholastic Lore (Chymistry) Test???
Had a similar issue in our last session when our Explorator some kind of strange radiation source on board of their ship. We all agreed that this was a physics related problem, but I had no clue what kind of test would be appropriate in such a situation... I let him do a simple Int Test after all.

My question would be: how much do the Adepts of Mars really learn about the basic science behind the things they are dealing with and what kind of skill would cover such a topic? Maybe Forbidden Lore (Admech)???

the low levels learn nothing, the higher you go the more they learn. Genetors rank right up there with a Magos, so they'd know quite a bit about molecular structures, radiation and whatnot.

Imo i wouldn't complicate it to much. If you're looking for a lore covering plants and other non-animal lifeforms, the only thing that comes close is SL (Beasts). Therefore it applies. Adding more lores is to tiresome, as you'll have to add so many. Just change the name of SL (Beasts) to SL (Biologis).

For radiation: nothing really matches it so i'd thake FL (Admech).

checked the Genetor Advance again and saw that it comes with advances for both Scholastic Lore and Trade (Chymist) ... so I think this could apply quite well for stuff like running a genetic screen on a blood sample or analyzing the protein structure of a xeno creature

btw thx, Badlapje, Forbidden Lore (Admech) sounds plausible for such a situation ^^

For all microbiology related tests I would simply use the Medicae Skill.
If the organism is very strange or has an unusual origens I would use Forbidden Lore (Xenos).

And for plants and fungi?

just assume Beasts includes anything alive and non-sentient.

I use Survival for plants, but expanding Beasts is a good idea too.

I agree with both Maese and Santiago. it'd be a combination of Forbidden Lore (Xenos) and Medicae. perhaps a combination of both skills, one to identify one to use. Survival, Beasts are both good ancillary skills that would be environmental dependant. (I.E. Plants and animals examined in a non-lab environ.) I think FL(mutants) would be good as well to add in because most races experience mutation in some forms, and with chaos it's more rampant, though i'll admit that the skills intention is probably referring to the realm of human mutation.
