Dragon's breath, Vapour dragon and missing turns?

By Riib, in Talisman

Hello fellow gamers!

So, one in our gamegroup met a vapour dragon,

(VAPOUR DRAGON - Enemy/Dragon
* Craft: 7
* Before you engage the Dragon in psychic combat, it makes a breath attack; roll 1 die. If the result is equal to or higher than your Strength you must miss your next turn. It will remain here until it is killed)

There is no other cards in the area, only the dragon, and he lost the roll, so he's "breathed" and must miss his next turn.

The rules specify that if a player is supposed to miss his next turn he will lose his current turn if there's cards left to resolve, or his actual next turn if there's nothing left to deal with.

Scenario A: His turn ends because the card has not yet been engaged as a battle, hence being a cards that's still unresolved. He plays his next turn as normal.

Scenario B: He has already engaged the dragon, he fights the dragon, and misses mis hext turn.

Thoughts?

Love,

RiiB

B is correct. Dragon made a breath to your face, but brave journeyman continue to fight him. unfortunately, even if char will defeat a dragon, he must loose his next turn (to wash his face?). This is rule from dragon rulebook, but of course without "brave journey" and without "washing face"

I think it is answer A

If the character must miss a turn because of dragon breath, his turn ends immediately ( as per main rule)

He can play further in his next turn.

Not in this case, as the card clearly states that he misses his next turn!!!

Thanks for the answers, seems B is the correct one, we'll keep digging in them rulebooks! But thanks a lot! :D

dragon expansion rules, page 16, top-left - breath attacks:

(...)if a character suffers the effects of a breath attack, he must still resolve the battle ot psychic combat unless specifically stated otherwise.(...)

I like to play talisman so much :)

continue with my logic, how I used to play:

if char suffers dragon breath and has to miss his NEXT turn, then he still enuntering dragon. if there are one or more cards on the space, he then will encounter them and will end his THIS turn normally. then will miss his NEXT turn. as ell wrote

So you are actually saying that missing your next turn does not follow the rule from the rulebook.

losing a turn of missing your next turn is still the same..

The character must end his turn as soon as he must lose a turn.

If what you said is true, then all cards that are saying next turn, does not end the characters turn

So if there was another dragon card, he could stil encounter it after he encountered the vapour dragon, while he must miss his next turn? does not sound right.

Velhart my dear friend. If at any instance during the game you are instructed to lose 1 turn (miss 1 turn or lose 1 turn) then you follow the rule in the rulebook as is correct. However if you are specifically instructed to miss your next turn, such as by a Dragons breath attack, then you miss your next turn period and must resolve the battle or psychic combat with the Dragon!

Hi elliot,

So in your example, if there was another adventure card after the vapour dragon, then you can still encounter it, because he must only miss his next turn because of dragon breath?

I am a bit confused. i have never play it like this.

Kind regards,

velhart

Which is almost exactly why I have started to fear the Dragon Toad more than any other enemy...

"if your attack roll is lower than the dragon's attackroll, you are turned into a Toad for 3 turns after the battle is resolved."

Doesn't really matter that is has strength 1 then and your character has 25. Murphy's law always makes you roll badly anyhow...

Breath attacks are a real pain in the....
