Magnetizing Walkers

By SamsDad, in Dust Tactics

It seems to me removing the weapons on the walkers over time will weaken the connecting points to the point they could break. Has anyone magnetized the weapons to avoid this potential issue? I have never done this myself. I'd like to hear about any challenges or things to consider during the process.

I'd wait until you need to add magnets myself, no point in creating work where not needed. I've only had 1 slack weapon and that was my fault as the fit was to tight and opened the hole to much. All what is needed to fix was a little bit of super glue on the pintle and left to dry. One sug fit again for no effort or cost.

I was thinking it would be nice to use magnets to hold the turrets on the allied walkers. I have some rare earth magnets that would do nicely but the open body does not leave me with a place to attach the magnet. As far as the weapons go I do not remove them once they are on.

Turrets definately, these always fall of in game. Don't know why they couldn't have made the turrets with a couple of tags on like Airfix and others do with their tanks.

Oh yes, magnetizing the allied turrets is a no-brainer. Just glue a metallic plate to both the body and the turret, then a small magnet to the body's plate.

Magnetizing weapons I'm not a fan of. The contact area is a bit small for the magnet to be able to hold the weapon firmly. I think it's better to just have one of each unit and leave it assembled as it is.

Yeach but have you tried to transport them that way? Allied turrets are a hell in means of transporting them. even in a case..

Rare earth magnets do the trick nicely. just use an xacto to carve an cut a good fit.

Nicely done. Could you guys who have magnatized the turrets throw some pis up. I'd like to see how you've done it.

I don't have my tanks here with me to take a proper picture, but you can get a good idea in this WIP picture of my Mickey:

On the turret I have another metallic plate, just like the one on the body, but without a magnet.
