Sorceress beguile alignment

By Dr. Tongue, in Talisman Rules Questions

I'm wondering if someone can help me clear up a couple of arguments I have with some friends.

Q1) Player A is of good alignment and has the Holy Lance. Player B is the Sorceress and is of evil alignment. Player B lands on the same space as player A and attempts to beguile them. If the beguile is a success, can player B then take the Holy Lance from player A and drop it on the space?

My inclination is to say no since the Sorceress is of evil alignment and can therefore not even take the Holy Lance due to the rule on the card stating no evil character may have the Holy Lance. You must first have something in order to drop something I argued. My friend disagreed and argued the opposite, stating that he would not actually take possession of the object and it would automatically drop on the space.

Q2) The player lands on the Hidden Valley space and draws 3 cards. The second card encountered is the imp event. The player then rolls to determine where they are teleported by the imp and the outcome is being teleported to the Hidden Valley. Does the character then re-encounter the space and draw 2 cards (since there is now 1 on that space pre-teleport) or do they not re-encounter the space and therefore just resolve the 3rd and final card. Also, if the former is true and you re-encounter the space, can you not then do a similar action at space with the shrine card on it to roll a 6 and teleport to the same space to reroll at the shrine.

Thanks in advance

Hello,

1) "Characters are not permitted to take cards that they may not have. For example, if a character may not have Followers, he may not take one by casting the Mesmerism Spell on another character." (Core Rules, p 16)

The Sorceress is not allowed to touch the Holy Lance, so she may not target it for Beguiling or Acquisition, nor may she claim it as a reward.

2) Since you were involuntarily teleported by the Imp, you encounter the Hidden Valley space as normal, drawing 2 more cards. However, you can never voluntarily teleport to the space you were on, so returning to the Shrine on rolling a 6 is not possible.

Awesome, thank you so much for the help. Sorry if my questions seemed noobish. My friends and I are new to the game but enjoy it a lot!

You do not encounter the space again as you were not teleported to a different space; you must encounter the final card that you drew on the Hidden Valley!

Had a feeling I was talking gubbins. ****.
