A complete map?

By theshadowduke, in Black Crusade

Does anyone have a complete map of the areas covered in the four 40k books? I would like to have a map to figure out where all these places interact. We (the players) were able to sneak on board a transport ship we are planning on taking over somehow. The issue however is that we don't know where we need to go and what kind of route we need to get there. We have already convinced the captain to take us to a system we will tell him after he is done with his current trade stop, and we need to find a planet that is suitably distant to ensure we have enough time to corrupt crew and incite a mutiny.

Are you just referring to like "the jericho reach" or the "calixis sector"???? I sort of dont follow what you mean.

As far as not knowing where you NEED to go... thats the nice thing with BC, you as the group get to DECIDE where you go, what youre going to try to perform as a campaign of war in the glory of chaos. you guys can either focus with multiple missions on a single planet to try and soften it up for a larger invasion, go raiding ships and space stations, become slavers and traffic humans. (souls ARE a very useful currency in the vortex afterall).

There is a huge variety of things you can do or places to go. What sort of intro did your group start with? the story in the back of the main book?

and I think that in the....main? deathwatch book there is a map of the whole imperium that gives you a brif description of each major area covered in these rpg's. but unless you either go with the logic that the screaming vortex opens into the hadex anomoly, like 2 sides of the same piece of paper, then youre talking about 2 opposite corners of the imperium. Jericho reach is lower right of the map, and the calixix sector/koronus expanse/screaming vortex is in the upper left corner.

.I will try to find you a page number...

Woops, sorry I missed the last line or two of your post.

since you guys are planning on stealing the ship???? i take it after you get away from prying eyes or anyone who would care, you could have the group travel deeper into the ship to see what kind of cargo there is to go trade. A good place to trade could be the Hollows- theres 2 Forges that are continually at war , I dont think that any pirate like behavior close to there is going to really draw negative attention.

Sacgrave is a place that you could take the ship, then run a shuttle craft to the surface to go to the townships to get supplies...honestly since some of the places so so inhospitable to any sort of landing I plan on taking my group out of the vortex, and somehow popping out in the hadex anomoly in the jericho reach since there is more (in my opnion) opportunity to have some creative thinking as to where to strike next at the imperium.

While it's lacking the Vortex (due to the Vortex not really being mappable and a lack of official map on the internet, along with indeterminate location), I've slapped together a map of the three main areas with stable warp routes as made known in the fluff. I keep it on google docs at this address . It's pretty big, but if you zoom in you can view the various areas. Once the vortex gets an official map I'll drop it in there, but only for reference, since I'm pretty sure its a smaller area than the other three sectors.

Thanks relic, that's what I was looking for. In the BC book it says that people get from the vortex to imperial space through the 13th station of passage. (BC pg 319) if that helps update your complete map.

[EDIT] I will say that simply talking to crew while the other psyker covertly mind probes them is a great way to gather intel. We have already figured out the Lord captain is an arrogant ****** that believes himself better than all those around him, and the quartermaster ,while loyal to the captain because he is the ships authority, harbors a desire for advancement. We figure that the captains arrogance and the quartermasters ambition will be useful foils towards corrupting the command staff and driving wedges between them. Then we can use the ensuing distrust to stage a mutiny and gain control of the ship. This is going to be a compact on its own I'm pretty sure.

The location of it is in the "southern" warp storms (the ones in the bottom right of the Koronus map) that separate the Calixis Sector and Koronus Expanse. The warp gate to the Jericho Reach is in the warp storms in the top right of the Koronus map.

Well that's... quite enlightening actually. I was never quite sure where these things were supposed to be. I'll add that to the map, thanks!

No problem, glad to help happy.gif

First of all, hello! Been lurking on the forums pretty regularily since a while before Black Crusade came out.

Secondly, I recently purchased the Rogue Trader book and Edge of the Abyss, and I could've sworn there was a map of the Expanse in there, either a separate map or the one on the inside of the covers, that described the "upper" warp storm on the Koronus map as the Screaming Vortex and the "lower" one as the Void Dancer's Roil. I don't have my books at hand right now so I can't check at the moment.

Interested in figuring out the canon position of the Vortex myself, as the campaign I'm running is about to have the group leave the Vortex and go into the Expanse.

The problem with the 2 "official" maps of the Expanse is that they are inconsistant.

Well not really a problem I guess, but they are. There was a thread somewhere on the RT forums where someone reworked both of them and merged them to form Voltron and posted it up on deviantart.

I'm at work right now so I dont have the link, but it's bookmarked @ home. Someone else may know what Im talking about though and be able to provide a link.
