Battle or combat?

By Riib, in Talisman Rules Questions

Hello!

We've had a rule question for some time, where one person in our board game group is dead set on BATTLE and PSYCHIC COMBAT as different things. The problem arose when one person played the monk, who has the special effect "can't use weapon during battles", and this person means that as long as he's in PSYCHIC COMBAT he can use weapons, but not during strenghtbased BATTLES. I strongly disagree, meaning that any battle is a battle, nevermind what stat you use, a fight's a fight.

What do you guys think? Any ideas on how to solve this?

Thanks in beforehand,

/RiiB

Never mind, we found some cards and situations where these are separetly mentioned as different things, so I guess it's not the same then.

Hello and Happy Nerw Year!

You're right, they're completely separate things. Battle is physical fighting, and psychic combat is a mental version of this.

So the Monk can't use Weapons or Armour in battle, but can add his Craft value (which is 3). In psychic combat he is free to use any psychic-combat based Weapon or Armour he might find (they're rarer than the battle-based ones).
