Nekro Flagship Question

By Nongers, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

Alright, so here is the situation. I am playing the Winnu and happen to get seated next to a very tech hungry Nekro player. This being the groups first time playing with the new races we had a general Ideal of what they all did and how they all worked. With the exception of this situation.

After almost being wiped out by the nekro player he had mercy on me for 2 rounds. During which time I built up my defences. After a turn or two I invaded his home system in which he had been keeping his flagship as a deterrent. Sending in a wave of cruisers was enough for me to deal 2 damage to it and cause it to explode. After which we cleared all ships out of the system. after a moment or two I noticed the space dock still in the system and questioned the action seeing as how a space dock, being in space, should not have escaped the blast radius of a ship that's very nature destroys everything in space in a system.

So, does the Nekro Virus Flagship, when exploding in a system containing a space dock, destroy the space dock??

The Nekro flagship says it destroys all friendly and enemy ships. Space Docks are units (everything plastic is), but not ships, so the Nekro player was right to leave it alone.

If you want a thematic answer, a solar system is a really big place. It's conceivable that all the ships involved in space combat (ie: all the ships in the system) were far enough away from any planet that the SDs would not be fried, but all ships would be.

Also, since an SD is in orbit around a planet, it doesn't make much sense to me that an explosion that big could get the dock and not fry the planet itself. It does make sense that most races would take their space combat away from inhabited planets to avoid causing too much collateral damage to the resource/influence base they're fighting over.
