I have Descent + all expansions, but have not had a chance to look through all of the characters yet. Is Brother Glyr the only Dwarf?...
Brother Glyr; am Iiiiiiiiiii the only one?...
No, Corbin is also a dawrf.
and they both have FAR too few wounds to be worth 4 conquest unless you have like tough AND bear tattoo..and even then maybe.

Yes, but I know for at least Brother Glyr its somewhat made up by the fact he starts with 2 armor. Give him even the town shop chain mail and he's right at 4 armor which is pretty good at the start of the game.

Trapmaster + Falling Block + Spiked Pit = 4 easy conquest for the overlord.

True but I was thinking more in general terms.

No, lots of 4 conquest heroes have two base armor. Brother Glyr has three base armor. Corbin has two, but also has a special ability that reduces all damage he takes by 1 (even if it ignores armor), so that's actually better than having three base armor. Brother Glyr's hero ability isn't shabby, either (two free movement points every turn, regardless of action).
They're rather vulnerable to traps, but apart from that have quite respectable survivability. Had a game recently where Brother Glyr had Taunt; went through most of the quest with monsters pecking at him for around 1 damage per attack and generally unable to hit Andira or Arvel, worked quite well.

Thanks for the correction. I couldn't remember if it was 2 or 3.
If you're concerned about traps, you just carry a healing potion. From personal experience, the move two and battle is an amazing ability... If he ends up with one of the items that give you extra "free" move points, he becomes outright nasty, and learly unkillable by monsters! Also keep in mind that no armour will ever slow him down!
He was one of my heroes in a RtL campaign I was playing with my brother... He got the plate mail, secret training for health, and a crystal shield. It's rather brutal, actually! 6 armour plus able to cancel 2 wounds once per turn... I gave him shadow soul as well :-)
Well, I would not pick Glyr against the Spider Queen, but against any Avatar who is not overly trap-happy, he's alright.

Except in a competitive game the OL gets to pick after the Heroes have been set up...
(Pg 9 RtL. Heroes steps 1-3, OL step 5)
I don't know... Yes, he can be killed handily if you let the OL hit you with multiple traps in a turn... But that's why the good lord gave us healing potions ;-) And since he'll be attracting all the attention of those, the rest of the heroes need not fear being hit by traps at all, do they? Ultimately, though, the OL is limited in terms of the number of traps in his deck, so the chance of him being able to throw multiples at you in one turn is limited.
On a related question... When you drop a crushing block on a hero's head, and they're moved to an adjacent space, can you immediately play a pit trap on them? They are entering a new space, are they not?
Once you're able to buy a skill, give Glyr Shadow Soul, and keep it on a glyph for easy access to town in case of emergencies!
There are all sorts of options :-)

Yes you can and happens to be one of my favorite combinations.

I actually had a time when I had a Exploding Chest (I think that's what it is), A Spiked Pit and Crushing Block in my hand. A character had ended his turn on a chest but not opened it since he was out of fatigue.
Opens the chest - Exploding Chest
Moves off the chest like two spaces - Crushing Block
Moves to an adjacent empty space due to Crushing Block - Spiked Pit.
I still had like 3 cards in my hand, none which I could use, but I had this guy so scared to move his Hero it was hilarious. He would just watch me as he moved his Hero for the next 3 turns. I kept shuffling my hand around to give the impression of lining up some cards or occasionally count threat into stacks of 4 to 5, the price for most of those traps. You've never seen someone run for the portal so fast.
Totally killed a hero with that Block/Pit combo while using the Spider Queen and Trapmaster. That'll show them to cover LoS to the whole level.
