Lannister wealth (how do you slow it down)?

I just lost in a match to a friend as Baratheon while he was Lannister 15 chips to 8. His big advantage whole match was Littlefinger using his super strength due to all the gold he was racking up from areas. What's a good strategy for me to slow this down?

-Throw a playset of dissention in your deck, it's a great anti-lannister card because they have so many allies, including Littlefinger. There is also Varys and Aerys Oakheart that do pretty much the same thing.

-The new plot First Snow of Winter will slow Lannister down a turn, Burning Bridges is also a good 5 gold plot to play if you have a lannister heavy meta.

-If your friend has such a surplus of gold at the end of marshalling, there's a good chance he's overextending his income generating characters also. Valar will teach him not to do that.

And I can do this with basic starting deck right? (I do have princes and lords of winter expansion)

Dissension is in Queen of Dragons expansion.

Ser Aerys Oakheart is in the Princes of the Sun expansion.

Varys is in the chapter called Secrets and Spies.

Well.. Valar Morghulis is in the base set, and will take a little more finesse to use correctly than the above, but you should be running it (or something like it) in your deck anyway.

One thing you could try is running The Red Wedding, and put some lady characters like Melisandre, Selyse Baratheon, or Shireen Baratheon in your deck if you have any versions of them. This is another way to deal with Littlefinger, or any of the other good Lannister lords.

Milk of the Poppy and Bowl of Brown should be useful in stopping chars that are causing problems.

ah ok yeah forgot to mention that I have Queen of Dragons too so that should work. Thanks! One thing that is kind of bizaar is the fact that there are very few intrigue cards in the starter pack for Stark House.

No problem. I really think you could just keep your deck exactly the way it is now and add in the dissensions, and you would notice a huge improvement.

Yeah, this is true for Starks. Probably for theme purposes, you know? It seemed like they were designed with that drawback in mind, but there are so many cards now, power creep seems to have taken care of that.
