I seam to remember to have read that tech priest can't swim.
Could this be right, or am i wrong?

I think that's only if you take the Full Resurrection from the Elite Advance Package Cybernetic Resurrection from IH (p. 87) which states that you can no longer swim.
Ok.
Thank you.
Just from my memory, if you take the Mechanicus Secutor alternate rank from IH and then take the Machinator Array, I think it also says you can no longer swim.
At least in Rogue Trader (I don't have my DH books yet, they are on the way) Tech-Priests can swim like anyone else unless they have the Machinator Array talent, at which point they are too heavy to be able to stay afloat on water..
At which point you can just levitate, hover over the water, land at the other side of the pool/river and laugh at the puny fleshbags (if you have an emotions cogitator, you can just look at them coldly and wonder why they don't accept the blessings of the machine god as readily).
Yeah, techies cease to be able to swim after too much of their body is replaced, making them too heavy to swim. Ofc I think there are augments that make you a self supported lifecare system and the hovering mentioned.
Every techpriest should be equipped with a Slow Clap Module to show their disdain for their fleshy colleagues when they inevitably prove less efficient than the augmented few.
You will notice that Swimming while wearing Armour or carrying weapons becomes a -30 test. You will also notice that Tech-Priests cannot learn the Swim skill. And that most of them have a few mechadendrites, which certainly count as heavy equipment.
I'd say that whilst there is no rule saying Tech-Priests CANNOT swim, there is certainly rules that suggest they need to pass at least a Hard (most likely Very Hard) Swim test (which they do not have) to stay afloat.
Swim is a Basic skill, so they do get to roll at half their Strength, -30. Go Go Go! ![]()
when you have full resurrection you are a machine and don't need to breathe…
you just walk link-heavy-boots-style on the ground of the sea (or pool) and maybe even need to (underwater) climb your way out…
but you don't drown by lack of swimming abilities
also if not ressurected/machinator arrayed you could learn swim as an elite advancement
iirc there is absolutely no notice anywhere which says techpriest implants are affected by (large amounts) of water
@Sirion: Where does it say that you no longer have to breath? I mean if your talking about Cybernetic Resurrection you do have a in-built rebreather but I would imagine that the oxygen canister would have to be replace after every hour of use, but you still have to breath though. And what about the water pressure on your biological systems, those are still affected are they not? Because I don't think they are making you to be waterproof.
The Flesh is Weak grants the Machine trait. Machines don't need to breathe; even one level of The Flesh is Weak means a Tech-Priest can survive underwater, or in the void of space. For reasons previously mentioned, a heavily augmented tech-priest cannot swim, but he can levitate or walk along the bottom with the right augmentations.
There's also the question of what happens to augmetics when they're immersed in water. Then again since they're attached to flesh, and flesh tends to be full of that blood stuff (which is, chemically, remarkably close to seawater) I'd assume they are waterproof.

I was talking about when you do a full cybernetic resurrection, I was not refering to anything from Ascension. Because yes obvious if they have The Flesh is Weak talent they no longer have to breath, which is kinda strange seeing as your bological parts still need oxygen to function, but that is here nor there. And if your throwing TFiW at me well I guess you shouldn't have to worry about water pressure on the exposed parts of flesh seeing as if you have TFiW talent then you are incased in a shell of metal on the outside surface of your body and you wouldn't have any exposed parts of flesh then. I'm just going to go with the assumtion of you being waterproof and not nickle and dime you at every step of the way. But I would say have fun trying to get out of the water if you sink to the bottom of any body of water that doesn't give you a nice walkway to the shore or something, otherwise you could get stuck down there.
