Question about Ninon and Meat Eater

By Northaven, in UFS Rules Q & A

I put together a Ninon SNK03 082/144 deck that's evil based and includes the card Meat Eater SNK05 62/99.

My question is whether the R Commit ability of Meat Eater (Before you pay a momentum cost, you count as having already paid 1 momentum towards the cost) works with the R and/or the E of Ninon's ability. R: If you discard 1 or more of your momentum, discard 1 of your opponent's momentum. E: Discard X momentum: Your attack gets +X speed.

It'll only work towards her first ability if you actually discard momentum. The trigger is "if you discard 1 or more of your momentum". Counting as having paid one of the momentum costs doesn't fulfill that trigger.

It works just fine for the E. You discard 4 momentum, the attack gets +5 speed. Or discard 0 momentum for +1 speed.

The key reason why Meat Eater will not work with Ninon's response ability, is because Ninon's response ability technically does not have a "momentum cost." It merely states "R:" Now, if Ninon's response ability was printed like "R Discard X Momentum:", then yes, that would be considered a monetum cost, and would also work with her Ninon's response ability. However, I see no reason why Meat Eater would not work with Ninon's enhance ability, since it does have a momentum cost.

I'm sorry, but I'll have to disagree. Meat Eater clearly states, that it only helps when you have to pay a momentum cost. With Ninon's first ability, there is no cost.

...that's what Aslum said.

He's talking about responding with Ninon's first ability if you use Meat Eater to "pretend" to pay a momentum cost, thus not actually discarding a momentum.

So like, in Aslum's second case where you discard 0 momentum to the E: and respond with Meat Eater, so you count as having paid a momentum for the cost. You would not be able to play her R: in response to that because you didn't actually discard momentum.
