Operation Zverograd?

By Col. Hammer, in Dust Tactics

Is the next supplement to this game going to be Sino-Soviets?

In the Dust-models.com, "coming soon" section you can see 3 Allied tanks with "Op. Zverograd pattern" listed in their names. That sounds like soviets to me!

Oh, that Coming Soon section is such a tease!

Yes, Op. Zverograd is mery much Russian (guess it means 0º), so that's a good indication that the SSU might be upon us.

And pleased to see that the 1:48 Ryu is also coming, I just wish it's not just for Dust Models....

Nice find. It may be a white Christmas, but it looks like a Red New Year is upon us!

A bit more info on the Dust-models.com...

"The now classic “Steel Rain” in the Zverograd camo pattern in use for military operations around the Caspian Sea in early 1947."

So, the next supplement takes place in the Caspian Sea?

Well the town of Z n ergrad is pretty close to the Caspian Sea. Closer to the Black Sea but who's counting. I had sent DM an E-mail with some questions including this, but the responed with "Sorry but you will have to wait". They were nice about it, and it sounded like more info was right arounf the bend.

Also the Japanese Ryu is now 'coming soon'

Need a whole battalion of allied medium walkers? Look no further than the Mickey Family Bundle (which definitely sounds like a Disney Channel special), in Zverograd colours:

Though I must say I don't see the point in buying expensive painted walkers only to end up with a whole mechanized front where each tank is almost indistinguishable from the other....

It still sounds funny:D

You also ger new 50 cal! with barrel magazine i think :P Such a innovation:D

I'm waiting for the gorillas family pack:D

Wow, I sorta like that deal. Less than $50 per walker (if you don't think about the shipping), might have to think about that one.

Even better, theres free shipping on everything over $250, so it is $279 for the entire set with free shipping. Does anyone who have any of the premium medium walkers, are the turret guns removable like the unpainted models? If I had 3 prepainted walkers that I could paint 2 more sets of Pounder and Hot Dog weapons so that I could use them as 1-3 of each (Mickey, Pounder, and Hot Dog), that might make the deal for me.

Yes they are removable.

****, I'm in on that deal, that's about $45 a walker, totally worth it. Thanks for the info.

The description of that deal also says:

"If you want to start an Allied Army or get ready for the military operations in the doomed city of Zverograd here's your chance!"

So, Zverograd is a city. Filled to brim with Sino-Soviets, Germans and Allies, slugging it out, no doubt.... lengua.gif

I'm actually hyped now to start a Sino-Soviet army.

Two questions then:

1. I thought that Zverograd was between the Axis and Sino-Soviets. I wonder if it will be more Allies vs Axis just in Russia. I hope not. Do you think it will be a three way battle?

2. Do the Mickey and the Barking Dog have the paint job in the bundle as the one you can buy in the the Dust 48 Finished Models tab? Looks like it to me.

-Jeff

Yeah, looks to be the same paint scheme as the solo Mickey and Barking Dog. Only difference is the new ammo clip for the .50

Axis and SSU have the Ost front border going along that region and Allies can enter via Middle east (Iran), so 3-way is possible. Why would the combat take place in what is so obviously SSU territory without SSU entering the scene. Makes no sense to me (axis vs allies only, that is).

I wonder what we'll see from the SSU side? Walkers like Otto (with russian weapons) surely?

Remember that this whole Zverograd thing is still exclusive to Dust Models, FFG and the main line have nothing to do with it. So rumblings about a russian battle by Dust Models does not mean in any way FFG has any plans to go to Zverograd.

So chances are we are just looking at a cammo pattern... Lokk this is operation zevograd camo! And those are the "moon landing operation" camuflages hevy suits!

Well, we don't know if it will be both FFG or not. Yeah it could be like the Forgeworld campaigns in comparison to 40k, but it could be a future FFG campaign as well, not enough info out to say either way.

All true, but DM did release repainted walkers for Operation Cerberus. I was basing my speculation on that. If they are just going to do random repaints they should focus on more colorful theaters. Desert walkers would be cool. But if Operation Zverograd is indeed Axis vs Sino-Soviets then I can see DM releasing Allied pint schemes for that area so players could swap out a side for allies. That or their painters had nothing better to do. It could go either way.

I know there is not much meat to go around with in these "rumours", but since both Dust models and FFG are so thight-lipped about the product line, I take what I can get... lengua.gif

But as I understand it, Dust models are the guys who call the shots, with FFG being only the distributor of the product? In that case, any rumours from Dust models might actually see the daylight as an actual products! (I hope).

True, but Dust Models has had stuff like soviet and japanese units for ages, and yet there hasn't been a whisper about that in the main FFG line.

Since when has there ever been any whisper of rumors that are actually true.

1) the line up for each expansion got twisted around some how and now we have no clue what is going to be next. Fail

2) the dumbass that said this game wasn't going to last when it first came out and made up that rumor that it was going to stop being produced. Fail

3) FFG saying that Dust Warfare was gonna be out in October and going on 3 months later still no sign. Fail kinda Playtesters fault.

#1 not a fail - different company, different strategy.

#3 not a fail - never saw anything that said October, the worst they've done is miss the Q4 deadline.

I think I remember the FFG site saying "October" before being changed to "Q4", and if you look around, you can find other non-FFG sites that reported it as an October release. I could be misremembering what the official site said, but the word "October" got floated around quite a bit when it was first announced.
