find gate, and other shortcuts back to arkham.

By snacknuts, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

If an investigator is in the second area of an other world during his movement phase, he returns to arkham on a location containing a gate to the otherworld he's in. Is the same true when casting the 'find gate' spell? can the investigator return to another location if he chooses? If he chooses a location with a gate to a different dimension would he get the visited token, and a chance to close the gate on the same turn? If the gate encounter card results in returning to arkham is the same true?

Casting "Find Gate" from the second OW space is exactly the same as just taking your regular movement and returning to Arkham.

When you return, it has to be to an open gate to the OW you're in, even if you cast Find Gate. If there is no valid exit gate, you become Lost in Time and Space.

There is a Unique Item called Gate Box that allows you to exit from any open gate, not necessarily one to the OW you're in. You also still receive an explored token.

Note that if an OW encounter sends you back to Arkham, you will not receive a free evade against monsters on that gate, because the turn will have ended before the next movement phase (where you deal with monsters).

Find gate only takes you to a gate if one is open to your current location. You do not get to choose the gate (unless there is 2 from the same OW on the board). If there is no gate and you cast the spell, you end up in LiTaS.

Any time that you "return" to Arkham directly from an OW, you get the explored marker.
