The Red Wedding and "Then" questions

By Nanich, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Power Struggle. When revealed, the opponent to your left chooses 1 Lord and 1 Lady character. Then, your must choose and kill 1 of those charcters. The other claims 2 power.

I had only 1 lord and no Lady. Do I still kill a character? I think yes, because I have to do as much as the first statement. Having the word "Then" makes the statements independent of each other. Does that make sense?

How is the word "then" used in the game?

Don

I found my own answer! Using the word "then" makes that statement dependent on the previous statement.

Don

Yes. Your original statement was pretty much backwards from the way the game treats things. "Then" creates a dependency and if the part before it does not happen successfully (and completely), the part after it does not happen at all.
