Hoss, Chronograph of Jan Ruze, Overwatch

By Artemus Maximus, in Tannhauser

I was under the impression that when Hoss traded places with an enemy, this would not trigger any overwatch. But in a game last night, argument was brought up that it did...

Searched forums, couldn't find anything, but i thought i saw this before... anyone know the ruling/consensus on this?

thank you

Hoss is trading places "instead f moving" So there are no movements nor actions performed by the enemy character so overwach is not triggered IMO.

I think you are right. I'm sure I read about it here in this forum, but was unable to find it too. It was officially stated that the exchange made by the chronograph won't trigger overwatch. But of course, overwatch is triggered as soon as Hoss (or the other character) moves on or anounces an action.

Maybe someone else remembers and finds the topic. I think the tactic suggested was to teleport an enemy adjacent to a Stosstruppen on overwatch, but it was clarified later that it wouldn't work.

thank you - i was also of the opinion since its not a proper movement, OW doesn't apply - to either Hoss or the transportee.

was playing with a new player (whose most recent board game played was Risk in college) who wanted to set up Hoss to transport MacNeal in between Overwatching Eva & Yula, both of which were adjacent to Hoss. He pointed out OW rules [triggered when] 'enemy character moves onto circle on same path as OW char.' and 'enemy char. moves onto adj. circle to OW char.' But i pointed out 'instead of moving...trade places' as not the same as moving into a circle.

so we went with it doesn't trigger OW, but he still put both on OW, transported MacNeal. I just left MacNeal there that turn and put him in OW next turn to hopefully neutralize 2 heroes...but Yula attacked, wounded by 2 Flash Gun hits first, rolled a 10 to destroy the gun, then followed by Eva who killed him. So same result in the end, but at least theres an opportunity to escape it when Chronograph circle-trading DOESN'T trigger OW and its still can put someone in a dangerous situation
