My friend is collecting this game...

By Tromdial, in Dust Tactics

So, yeah, I was wondering from experienced players of Dust Tactics what are the most fun units to play? My friend and I were discussing about what looked cool without knowing any mechanics and I like the Axis gorillas, zombies, and mechs.

Also, do any of these figurines come prepainted or is that just the box art showing what they COULD look like IF painted?

Funnest would be a matter of opinion but personally I like axis artillery and recon grenadiers. And on the painted note there is are 2 versions of each squad, a regular which come assembled primed and ready to play or paint and a premium version which cost more but come painted, I paint my own units but I have the premium version of 2 heroes and i have to say they are a very nice paint job and have held up well so far and look great.

Yeah, which is more fun is really a matter of opinion. Generally I think the most fun is got out of those units that really terrify your opponent. So for the allies it might be the Mickey and BBQ/Hell Boys. For the axis probably Lara and Flak Grenadiers, apes and zombies...

Flak Grenadiers? Really?

The Burst attribute will influence your opponent quite a bit.

If a unit doesn't use a move action, then they eat double dice. Sustained fire means that that unit didn't move, so therefore double dice are thrown against that unit. For alot of people, directly causing your opponent to play in a fashion that they normally wouldn't is "fun". =)

Exactly, the Flaks are a real nuisance. When they move towards you, you feel forced to either wipe them out or at least take a move action, you can't ignore their threat. 18/1 against a light squad or 12/1 against a heavy squad is certain death, even without a sustained attack. And if they have Lara with them, it just adds insult to injury.

You`ve just made my day :D

I will have to look at them again, because initially they seemed very expensive and not much of a threat unless you are fighting someone who is maybe defending fixed positions.

Yes, as always, right tool for the right job. No unit in Dust is ALWAYS great.
