This might seem an odd, or even dumb question (I'm good for those), but is there anything in Rogue Trader for keeping track of your overarching Dynasty, other than a lot of jumbled mess in one or more notebooks, and the backs of one player's character sheet? The back of RT gives a sheet for your ship(s), as if it were a character, so I thought they might have one for your empire, too, seeing as much of RT is, if you'll forgive me, abstracted.
If you are as old as me, you might remember a D&D game called Birthright. In said game, each player is a lord/king, bearing blood of an ancient hero, and you were also the ruler of a nation or kingdom. It was much more an empire-builder game (which I often feel Rogue Trader is, too), rather than just dungeon crawling, but you had to do it, because, like the D&D gods, your power was drawn from your loyal followers, and the growth of your realm, as well as the success of its people, translated into real benefits for you, the king. Then, the increase of your blood power could directly improve your realm, and it was an important balancing act. Meanwhile, you and your army, in addition to the other players, and whatever forces they might be able to muster, would engage the armies of the bad team, who are out to steal blood power, or you dungeon crawl, without said armies, seeking relics and mysteries of the past, to learn more about the Great War, or your ancestor, and grow stronger personally (better XP).
Not to belabor this further, but the game had two charsheets, one for you, the mighty King, descendant of Ancient Hero, and then the realm sheet, which kept track of how much territory you held, how many cities, how well each was fortified, the number of divisions you controlled, what types of troops, where they were, taxes, etc. Rogue Trader could benefit, and maybe does, from such a sheet, listing what assets you control, and where they are. What is the base of your far-spanning Dynasty? What worlds do you control? Just have assets invested in? How big is your fleet? How many units of grunts are at yor disposal? This assumes it is a fleet-bearing, multiple planets claimed Dynasty, rather than you and four buddies, on one ship, with some faceless NPC crew, against the galaxy, but as you travel, and broker trade deals with various rulers, or become one on another world, having an organized sheet to write it down on would potentially help.
So, I was wondering, does some book I don't yet have possess something of this nature? Lacking that, has anyone slapped one together, maybe in a pdf format? Just curious. I suspect the answers will be no, but I thought I'd inquire. Maybe the thought will inspire one to make such a thing, and better than I could. Thanks much.
