Question on rift movement.

By fallofhamlet, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Do the double black/white movement arrows count for putting on a doom token?

In a response Kevin gave regarding Rifts inside of Dunwich Vortexes, it's the movement symbol that triggers the monster/doom token, not the rift's actual movement. I'd say that if White Circle Rift moves on a white/black gate because the mythos card shows circles on black, the rift would only add a monster and not a doom token.

Can anyone else help me out on this?

Direct quote from Kingsport Horror Rulebook PG 9

"...If it moves along a white arrow (since the circle is white), a doom token is added to the doom track."

This sentence refers to the rift with the white circle in the middle.

Direct quote Kingsport Horror Pg 8

"In addition, if a rift moves along an arrow of the same color as it's dimensional symbol, a doom token is added to the Ancient's One's doom track."

So if the white circle rift moves along a white/black arrow (even if the circle symbol is black on the mythos card) i would highly presume that you would add a doom token to the doom track.

Hope this help's :)

And a direct quote from Kevin Wilson regarding rift movement:

What happens if a Rift appears in Kingsport and moves into a Vortice? I would say it simply remains there, spitting out a monster that instantly passes through the vortice every time it is supposed to move, but again, the rulebook doesn't say. (06/13/08)

"If a rift moves into a vortex, it just sits there, as you surmised. Note that a rift will still add a doom token / spit out monsters if it cannot move. The drawing of the proper dimensional symbol on a mythos card is the trigger for that, NOT the actual movement."

So I would say that double-colored arrow does not guarantee the addition of a doom token. Its color needs to match the color for its symbol on the Mythos card.

Double color arrows only count as one color when they are triggered. If Black triggers a movement along a Black/White arrow, only the Black is considered active. The White is ignored.
