Consider resolving your skirsmishes with collateral damage first when attacking an area with a base

So I think I will wait for a clarification, but even with it I would rather execute CD after ALL skirmishes (IMO each = all in quote above)

I agree that waiting for clarification makes sense, but both questions asked Corey whether it was after each or after all skirmish(es), and to both he replied "each", not "all". So assuming the meant "all" when he said "each" looks odd to me lengua.gif

More food for thought with regards to this strategy:

1. There are some nice unit combos you could do to try and guarantee that collateral damage (CD) goes off, keeping in mind that all you have to do to trigger CD is to survive the skirmish - not kill an enemy unit:

Pairing your CD capable unit with an enemy that can't attack back at your unit based on the enemies attack capability (air/ground) is always a wise choice.

Protoss Reaver supported by an Arbiter with Stasis Field to give both units a zero attack value (although Cloaking Field could work almost as well as Stasis Field provided there is no detector present).

Terran Seige Tank supported by a Ghost with Lockdown (against units that can be locked down) or supported by a Medic with Optic Flare (if the enemy unit is unsupported).

Zerg Guardian supported by a Queen with Ensnare (to reduce the effects of enemy support values and give bonus health).

These were just a few examples off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more.

2. If you left your base area open and the enemy moved in with a collateral damage (CD) capable unit, because there were no units to fight there, there would not be an opportunity to play combat cards, and hence no opportunity for the enemy to use CD.

But you might try and retake your base before the turn ends. If that is the case, the enemy could still play a CD card and still destroy your base. Since you are now the attacker (in trying to retake your base) you get to choose the order of skirmishes. You would want your base to last as long as possible to permit you any advantages that having a base there would permit (prolonging your Air Defence Module benefits and using sunken colonies / bunkers / shield batteries) and so in this case you would probably want to resolve the skirmish with the enemy CD capable unit last.

It looks like we're going to have to scrap this strategy.

It appears that it will not matter in which skirmish Collateral Damage is triggered, as Collateral Damage will be resolved after all the skirmishes of the battle have been resolved.

Thanks to blarknob for requesting the clarification and thanks to Corey for resolving this!

Than after a first skirmish whit Collateral Damage, if ia want destroy an enemy base, in skirmish 2 his "bunker" card has effect, right ?

Right, all bunkers/shield battery/sunken colony/anti-air module still take effect.

Technically you won't actually resolve the Collateral damage until after all the skirmishes are completed. So the base would be present throughout all the skirmishes of that battle (for that mobilize order).

You could probably envision the timing for this as being after the resolution of all skirmishes (step 7 in the order of battle), but before the resolution of Splash Damage (step 8 of the order of battle). By no means is this timing statement official, I'm just interpreting from the information provided. My assumption is that it still takes place in the Resolve Skirmishes step of a battle (as originally published) which is step 7, but immediately after all skirmishes have been completed.
