By UlricKessler, in Black Crusade

A Sorcerer that sounds/talks like Cobra Commander.

My NPC 'narrator' of sorts that is an almost direct copy of the japanese sorceror guy from the original Conant the Barbarian movies. www.youtube.com/watch

For mine it is the drunken plaque marine docter/ heavy weapons expert, who just happens to have 50 or so nurglings moving around in his belly

In the game i am in currently i am quite enjoying the antics of one of the legionnaires. He's basically a fallen devastator, with some vague training in stealth skills who keeps forgetting he can use his heavy bolter to solve most problems he is presented with and instead attempts to scout around stealthily. More than once he's gone off alone, with no comm bead or helmet vox, so we have no way of communicating with him.

Recently he nearly got blown up in a forge plasma-reactor explosion - the rest of us were already speeding to safety on the back of a skimmer truck.

I'm sure it's just a typing error, but..... "PLAQUE" marine? So you have a cavity creep in your game?

Instead let me tell you a little story about a small group with no Navigator for their new ship. Since 2+2=4, and a Navigator is a Psychic Mutant. The groups Psyker wrangled a lot of deranged minor psykers from a Hive World and created a ritual to poor the Immaterium into them till they got a mutation. They would just discard the ones that didn't meet their needs. Fortunately they got what they needed, as well as a couple of mutants they didn't expect (including someone who became boneless, and is now the living, moaning cloak of the Plaguemarine)

Also the fallen Commisar we have keeps aquiring all manner of armed manpower, while the marines are worried about getting a power sword or plasma pistol. The players (all but one, I should say) don't quite grasp the other game in BC.

Well, he does serve Nurgle, Lord of "Decay"... >.>

We just had a Tzeentch Sorcerer go balls out on an attack against a possessed Carnafax. He burned roughly 20 Infamy and did around 120 damage to the thing, nearly killing it in one blow.

Our campaign has only just got going. We played through the somewhat modified Broken Chains adventure.

Currently the star of the campaign is Drystan, a chaos space marine champion originally from the Flawless Host warband. He is so delusionally narcissistic that he suffers from solipsism and considers everyone around him to be little more than figments of his own imagination... His interactions with the other heretics and his foes are rather amusing, especially since he has only genuinely come to accept one other heretic as being " real " after about ten hours of play.

Yes, part of the Infamy burn was him spending to not die.

"Part"? What was/were the other part(s)? ._o I'm really curious as to how he accomplished that kind of damage. Break it up for us.

The DM allowed the Sorcerer to burn Infamy after he spent all of his to power up the attack he made on the Possessed Carnafex.

In the BC game I managed to join I play a Slaaneshi Apostate, Stefan Amaris (soon to have his name changed to Thulsa Dume). In rather grand style, my character has taken the ship that you get in Broken Chains at the end, had it repaired, loaded it up with slaves and gladiators, had artisans come in from the planet of Q'Sul (sp?) and rework large areas of the ship into arenas, theaters, and chaos shrines. That rusted hunk of junk is now a floating jewel dedicated to the Kings of the Warp. Have been secretly working in large parts dedicated to Slaanesh though..also I have managed to gain the trust of the carrrion feeders and have started to have them become my closest followers. >:3

Only 2 session into my campaign so far, but some interesting things have come up from my players being somewhat crazy.

A Chaos Marine with an Autocannon sneaking across 200m of open terrain through a PDF defense line (didnt roll above a 10, rolled a 1 for the final check goinig through the PDF lines, so i had to let him get away with it) We figured he used a civilian car to conceal himself and somehow walked between a pair of guardsmen without them noticing. This player also blew up a planetary governor's mansion, killing hundreds of rival heretics.

A human psyker that decided to push his way past an irate chaos space marine. When it failed miserably, he tried to doombolt the marine. When that failed, the marine rabbit punched him, which also launched him across the room. He later bullrushed a stunned psyker (as in head down, charging headbutt bullrush), lighting the psyker on fire due to his flaming skull.

A human renegade with a severe case of lethargy and bipolar tendancies, who managed to reach 10 corruption at character creation, and grew a pair of wings. This character still does not know that he has wings since nobody has mentioned it to him and he was clubbed to unconciousness as soon as he mutated. Also, suffered from a case of having all of his ribs broken in the first combat of this campaign, due to a rampaging Ogryn trampling him and then dying on top of him, then a punch from a "friendly" chaos marine. Finally, the marine spat on him (forgetting about the whole acid spit thing), which technically killed the human, but i decided Papa Nurgle was amused by his antics and regerated him.

All in all, Black Crusade is pretty awesome

in our campaign we have so far:

An Apostate. undivided, who never fights and sucks up to the CSM, to manipulate him

A Techpriest, specialised in Sneak and Snipe, with insane intelligence. He also never hits anything due to bad luck...

A Nurgle-Marine with Legion Heavy Bolter and a pair of Fly-Wings, mostly orders the humans around and is an arrogant prick to boot

A Renegade, unarmed-fighter with the Hand of Khorne and a flesh fused power mace. (looks like Akuma/Goki)

So far we didn't kill each other, but our group lacks the monumental view of Black Crusade. We care too much about petty things. We also wonder why we are so horrificaly overpowered in combat, but I guess the point is, that you are. I mean you do play the bringer of the apocalypse.

We have got a new character who crazier then... idk

but he is dark angles chaplain turn drug addict that has moddifed his power armor bio injectors to carry 16 or so does of whatever fun drugs he likes and these drugs can be used by thought. Then he also has legion great chains sword that release a halluscinogenic gas within a 5 meter radius of him.

some of his achivments are

  • make all pc character all hooked on drugs he makes.
  • causing the khorne bezerker in the group to kill him self by cutting a little bit too much of his leg
  • also maybe having greatest high to ever existince by taking, rose, d-dust, frenzon, scab, slaught all at the same time

he also refers to himself in third person and calls his drugs, his presious

did i mention he really likes slaanesh

The ones I play with are to serious to make for good sport so far. The best thing I've seen was when a psyker would do some divination, got suck into the warp, popped out again with a big bang, in a small appartment in the middle hive. Needless to say the neighbors came over and wondered what the hell we were doing.

And, if we're speaking purely mechanically, there's always the new apostate, who's target number for disguising herself as someone else is at 151. On top of this, she adds the unnatural fellowship (+2) bonus for the mark of Slaanesh. Then she doubles her total DoS due to the Hermaphrodite mutation. Good luck spotting her, even with her one boob.

A good start, but that's hardly the greatest high ever. We once had a Lostok Gland Warrior in our RT group who's "baseline" was having roughly 6 different drugs pumping through his system at all times. Once he got going, he could easily run on upwards of 10+ different drugs at a time. That man didn't have blood, just chemical cocktails. Also had a shitload of Trade: Chymist, so he ran around producing all manner of nasty custom drugs. Including a combat drug derived from Tyranids. He was vaguely heretical, and deeply depraved.

However, for your wonderful chaplain, consider what that warrior got: Chem glands from Inquisitor's handbook. They're like triple loaded drug injectors. That make the drugs on their own.

That's right, your body produces a constant stream of lovely for your to inject at your leisure. No more reloading of those annoying Chem injectors. You just think it, and you're on it. Then you gland De-Tox, and run around constantly adjusting what drugs you're on. Especially awesome for space marines, who can easily be safe from its downsides 80% of the time.

Personally, our group's current favorite is actually an NPC, though his awesomeness was purely derived from players making comments and running wild in-game. His name is Steve the Ceaseless, and he's the herald of the groups warband. He's a normal human being, who loves the warband so much that he got a mechanical backpack grafted to his flesh. From this backpack extends a long metal pole, from which the warband's banner flies, waved around mechanically when he thinks it. He's also got the illusion of normality mutation, and he was bought as a minion for the group. The fact that we "get a new one" is treated as immortality. Steve comes back from the dead.

He's also very sneaky, spends his time stalking the group of PCs and then writes smutty slash fanfiction about them while in his room. A craft to which he's so dedicated that he's got the traditional pencil hands of a devout scribe of the Administratum. It is, at this point, strongly suspected that Steve is actually an ancient, minor god of Chaos. The god of bad fan fiction.

Needless to say, Steve is just there as a sort of player powered comedic relief character, excellent for when players wish to express some sort of bad pun or joke, can't contain themselves and can't say it in-character. Steve says it, allowing the roleplaying to continue without too many jarring break in the flow.

that apostate sounds alot like some one in ours. also i really want one off those chem glands. by the way can you give suggestion of how brake out off lock up power armor. my team disable the power in it while i was asleep and i am now stuck in laying postion. my warband did this to me because i gave d-dust to the best guy at speak and that gave him flaming skull and reduce fellowship to 32.

by the way can someone point me in direction of another on 40k rpg books that have more combat drugs that are not black crusade, as i am starting get bored of my current ones

Why didn't he just modify the test? D-dust does not give Corruption as if from a failing. Thus, corruption from the drug would allow infamy modification. And the mutation, likewise, is not a failing and thus you can modify by infamy. Hell, it doesn't even have the "Random" in front of it like some mutations do. So yeah, point that out.

As for moving in Power Armor, you're kinda on your own. However, at least in RT it was possible to move in depowered power armor, albeit at something like -60 strength test to do it. However, you're a space marine. Break out of it with your superhuman strength!

For the Drugs, I know Hostile Acquisition and Book of Judgement have a few drugs, though I can't recall how many combat drugs there were. They might need some adjustment to work properly in BC without being imbalanced or overpowered, but they ought to give inspiration if nothing else. Other than that, I'd say get Medicae and Trade: Chymist and make your own custom concoctions! (With mechanical approval from the GM, obviously).

Also, just for fun, if they insist on holding your responsible for the unintended consequences of your action, say okay. Then point out to the group psyker that you're well within your now established rights to brain him with your Crozius the next time his psychic phenomena messes with your day. They might change their tune then!

Wait, thats not how you're supposed to deal with psykers by default?
