My Allies

By blkdymnd, in Dust Tactics

Been so long since I posted my Allies (since I was working on my buddy's Suckerpunch project for so long), that the last time I posted was before the Painting subforum was around. Heres a refresher and I'll add to it now that it's in the right place...

Ok, and then todays submission....

everything looks well done

Looking at the pictures the first thing that I was thinking when the image of Captain America appeared was: "WHY DID YOU MAKE THAT?!?"

Then the Iron Man paint job scrolled onto my screen and all I could think was: "Oh my God, that is just so COOL!!"

thanks very much. one of our guys at the shop came up with the Capt America idea with my extra Bazooka Joe. That was about the time of the movie and it fit the Dust theme. So then I got an extra Rhino, and was stumped. Iron Man premiered in the later 50's I believe, so it was a stretch to include him in Dust, but I made one Avenger... so... I also didnt put him in his original steel armor because it was too much of a blah color scheme. We'll see if there end up being any other heroes that I can add to my Avenger roster :)

Update last night...

You buy them from Dust Models.

Yep, what he said. They have a good deal for the bundles of bases. As to your question, I believe they use crackle paint to get the effect, and that you can buy in most craft stores.

Like the uniforms, could you tell me the colurs used for the greens and how you have layered them?

Thanks! The regular infantry are painted right off the manufacturer basecoat. I start with a brown wash. From there, I've simply built up gnarloc green from GW, a half and half gnarloc green and Wurm Green from Privateer Press with a final highlight of Wurm Green.

thanks mate, much appreciated will give that a go. Currently going mine gray and not so sure about the way there turning out.

Finished my test model for my Scottish Red Devils...

I have been corrected, by the way, on my liberal use of Scots in the Red Devils where I guess there were no Scots. Being the very non historical buff that I am (and why I don't play Flames of War), I had assumed British Forces had mixed nationals from across the Isles. I guess Black Watch would have been more fitting. Regardless, I really like the look and so do my buddies, so all is good. :)

Well, if you mind sticking to historical corectness in a world where in 1947 we have tanks on legs... The scotish guy is looking awsome;)

Lol, thanks... my intent exactly :) Bagpiper coming up next...

Well, digging a bit deeper, I found out that in 1947, the 15th batallion of the British Para were reassigned as a Scottish batallion, so with Cerberus taking place in Winter 1947, it ends up working nicely that way.

Continuing the Scots...

Scots are finally done!

A lot of progress this week. Rhino first, then my 2 sets of Hammers later on. All of course having... well... hammers! I painted Rhino to give him sort of an earthy, rhino type color scheme. My hammers will have similar with my normal olive armor with the brown trim on Rhino being grey on one Hammer squad, and the other Hammer squad having brown trim.
