Atomic Restructuring (lvl 3 Psychokinetic power) Save or Die?

By Ranga, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

My character recently mastered this power as a means of improving the party's gear and eliminating the need to track wealth. However, in a pinch he could use it on a foe, is there an errata to explain damage or what happens when you target something with more than "250lbs" of mass?

Does the power have no effect or affect 250bs of the creature? I recommended to the GM that we combo the damage of Shatter with some kind of Action penalty based on the amount of damage dealt. He seemed to prefer "save or die" which honestly worries me a little:)

Thoughts?

I would guess that anything above and beyond the weight limit could not be affected. And the save or die would be about right in my opinion because 1) the power is not easy to get to. 2) the power is not easy to use. 3) by the time a character can manage to achieve that hight of psychic potential it is not hard for same level characters to make a 100+ difficulty resistance check. And useing it sure could be helpful but if a character has no knowlege about science or crafting at all then I would say their ability to turn one thing into a desired something else would be curbed by their lack of knowlege and skill at crafting. Grant it the psychic that uses that power reduces the difficulty of making something by 2 levels, but if they have no idea what makes a sword strong (like the number of folds) then their new sword would still suck compaired to a weapon smith that had worked for 30 years making swords. But that's just my opinion.

i agree with bleakheart and your GM, it is what my i would do as GM.

I disagree. The power is extremely strong due to versitility, not just offense. Making it one of the strongest attacks as well as the most useful Psychic Power in terms of versitility would make it by far the strongest Psychic Power in the game in my oppinion (if it isn't already). My solution is that it has the same effect as Shatter of one success lower, except it counts as an automatic critical used this way.

Automic Reconstruction is a powerful ability, and offensively it is very strong, but I think Shatter should be stronger in terms of sheer offensive strength (albeit Auto Critical may make this not be the case) because Shatter can only be used as an attack, whereas this can make you infinite wealth, repair lost limbs, improve weapons, and attack enemies. If it works like shatter, but better, then why even know Shatter?
