Do infinite symbols have any special rule?

What I do not understand is how the responses on Infinite characters can be played if they're in the dead pile.

Lost Captain- Response: After you win a power challenge by 4, return Lost Captain from discard/dead pile to your hand.

If you're allowed to use a response of something in a dead pile, could you use Joffrey (PotS) response when he's dead as well?

Joffrey (PotS): Response: After a small council is played, kneel 3 influence to discard 1 character from play (shortened version, sorry copy and paste is not working)

What about the unreleased Maiden of Poisons? Could I use her response when she is already dead?

Maiden of Poisons: Response: After you lose a challenge as the defender, choose a challenge icon. Then each opponent chooses 1 standing character he or she controls with that icon, if able. All chosen characters lose that icon until the end of the phase.

The rule is simple. You cannot trigger effects on cards that are out of play, unless the text on the card explicitly tells you that you can. This is why effects on cards (some with the infinity symbol, some without) like Lost Captain, Royal Entourage, Forever Burning, Trident Reinforcements, Pentoshi Guildmaster etc. can be triggered while they're on the dead or discard pile. It's the same with cards like CS Khal Drogo, LoW Catelyn, Guardian Wolf or Meera Reed: Their effects can be triggered while they're OOP (in your hand, or in Shadows) only because their text tells you they can.

The infinite symbols serve only as a visual reminder that they can recur. There are no specific rules for it.

As for the meat of your question, unless specified in the card text, an ability may only be triggered from play. While you're looking for a "this response may be triggered from the dead pile", it's implicit, not explicit. As such, Bloodrider *can* be triggered from your hand (and only from your hand), Forever Burning can be triggered from the dead pile (but not your discard pile), and pentoshi guildmaster can be triggered from your discard pile.
