As I am one to add other vehicles to my games I have come up short finding a 1/48 scale US Halftrack. Anyone have any leads on where I can get a kit or diecast version in 1/48 scale? ANy help would be appreciated.
Need Help Finding a Vehicle
Why not try one on the hundreds of 28mm 1/56 scale wargame models. I think these look better alongside the DT walkers as 1/48 look huge alongside them. Also look for the diecast models.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have found the 28mm look small compared to the minis but I may give them a shot again as they are available in a lot of places as you said. The diecast market seems to have dried up with 1/48 scale anything these days with solido and verem all but disappearing. I used to recall tamiya or one of the other major model companies making one but I cannot find it anywhere. Again thanks for the advice.
Corgi used to make one. You can still find them, but they aren't cheap: http://www.collectiques.co.uk/catalogue/corgi/ww2/tanks/halftrackddayomaha.php
Here's a couple of comparisson pics:
Thanks MH the pics really help. I may then persue the 1/50 scale as I cannot find any 1/48 scale anywhere.
FInally found some for about $39.00 each out of a place in Texas. Should work for now. Thanks everyone for all the help!!!!

But aren't the soldiers supposedly 28mm scale? Or is a case where its 28mm 'Heroic' vs true 28mm with 'heroic' basically meaning 'giant'?
No, they are taller and than 28mm. DT is marketed as 1/48

Just compared them to some 28mm stuff, DT figures are pretty large. Never noticed before.
In the general scheme of things if you get a 1/50 scale vehicle and base it, it brings the height up a little to make it work with the 1/48 scale minis. SO for some I base and for true 1/48 I dont. My only pet peve is when the minis look to tall for the vehicles otherwise when based they look a little more in line. I used to buy a lot of WESPE models before they became so expensive and they were 1/48 and look great next to the Tamiya or other 1/48 model companies. For my Solido or verum collection I tend to base them and they look great next to the most minis.
Bandai made an excellent American halftrack in 1/48 scale many years ago. Ebay has them now and then. I think 1/48 works really well with the Dust figures given their slight bulkiness next to other comparative figures.
I have already built two gray hounds, a jeep, a half track, a puma, small tank and a scout car and they all look great next to the DT minis. If I ever get time Ill photo graph. I used Tamiya, Italire, new millenium toys(was 21st century) and Hasagawa kits and they have all worked great as well as item from quarterkit.com and wespe models. All are in 1/48 scale and across the board they match up great as I have axis scout cars from 2 different maunfactures and they are spot on.
