I've noticed that several people are doing blogs for the AGoT LCG. Would anyone be interested in doing a combined Blog effort? Essentially, combining a number of blogs and authors and essentially covering a wide variety of subjects? I would be interested in reading one and possibly contributing to it. Anyone else interested?
Community Blog Effort?
I could highlight select articles/entries in Thrones Times, if that's any encouragement. I may also be interested in contributing to the blog from time to time, though wouldn't be able to commit to anything.
Heh, funny you should bring this up at this time
I had JUST read something about how this game should have strategy articles akin to those of Channel Fireball for MTG, and had mentioned to both Twn2dn and Kennon that I was wondering if this would be something the community would be interested in having- basically quality strategy articles on a variety of topics.
Since it seems to be, I will put it out there that I am very interested in spearheading such an effort, and would be interested in the thoughts and suggestions of the community at large as to what format they would like to see, any topics in particular that they would be interested in reading about, etc.
I'd be willing to submit articles as well. I was thinking maybe doing a spotlight on what I feel is an underplayed card or maybe underplayed decktype. I was thinking maybe weekly, is that too often for everyone? Maybe Biweekly? or monthly?
If there were multiple contributors, there could be weekly, or even bi-weekly articles, fairly easily.
would there be any interest in fan tweaks, house rules, and custom cards (like: javascript:void(0);/*1323364132699*/ ) for the proposed blog?
Why yes, yes there would be!
Nope, I think that it's a perfectly grand idea that I'd love to see more of. I'm wary of fragmentation though. Darksbane over at CardgameDB.com is already kind enough to host our 2C1C, Thrones Times, and the most complete LCG deckbuilder around, so I wonder if this might be a project that could utilize the tools already there to continue making it the premier AGoT site on the net.
Kennon brings up a good point. I think I'll start my weekly(biweekly if I'm lazy I guess!) article for underplayed card of the week tonight over there.

I agree that we shouldn't necessarily create a new site for this effort.
Well I'd be a faithful follower of the blogs if it was on CardGameDB. Not interested in chasing around new websites.
Alrighty, so Staton is off to start a new blog there, but for the rest of us, should we work up a more organized effort, schedule, themes, etc?
This effort is most likely to succeed if well organized.
For instance, does anyone already have particular themes for articles that they would like to focus on or a particular skillset that they think could be used for certain features?
For instance, Staton has already expressed interest in doing an "Overlooked Card" article.
I'm not sure that I have the mental prowess to also write weekly articles on top of 2C1C, but I'd probably be able to do something once a month, and I'd be more than willing to put my English degree to good use and help as an editor for those who are interested in writing more frequently.
Also, for anyone wanting to get a feel for the sort of thing that prompted my original posting on the Valar Midwestous group, check out:
Staton has contacted me about moving this thing forward. If anyone else is interested in joining our group effort, please PM one of us and we'll continue this conversation off-forum.
Staton, Imrahil:
Emails fired off your way.
If you guys can post a couple entries in the next week or so, I'll include a short blurb in the Thrones Times issue I plan to have out in mid-December. (Originally scheduled for early December, but "life" intervened!)
Hi guys!
Just saw this thread and I think it's a brilliant idea! I would gladly contribute my insights and meagre(?) knowledge to this. I have written one or two beginner's guides for the french community so have a bit of experience with these things but will gladly move into something bigger with you guys. Also this would be a great occasion to draw a cross-meta internaional picture.
Let me know,
PS: I didn't send PMs out because this forum doesn't give me the option apparently, at least not before we are friends I believe....
Hi Kallindas! Please send me an email at [email protected] thanks!
To give an update to anyone following this thread but does not/cannot contribute to the community blog effort, it's coming along very well. We're seven members strong, and have even adopted a name for the effort. Thanks to everyone for all the support.
We also have hot tubs. And butlers. And limos. And drivers for the limos. And suits.
Getcha popcorn ready.

Unfortunately we aren't going to have anything ready by Friday. We are looking to start posting the first week in January. At that time we'll have some of our articles ready, as well as a description of the type of content we will be providing.
Love what you guys have going on here!
Blogs are really where it's at if you ask me. I love forums and all, but the real meat and potatoes is in blogging!
Would love to see what you guys get cooking with, but over at Team Covenant we have a fairly decent blogging thing going for AGOT, and other games. You can filter for just AGOT content, and write your own stuffs without any need to host your own site, or do any of the other leg-work.
Would love to see you guy around, been loving this game and would love to read some of your more experienced views (pretty much a newb still here).
Take care,
-R
