Heavy assault walker available

By Dakkon426, in Dust Tactics

My god I can't imagine using four heavy walkers at once.

Think about all Allied units packed up inside those beasts! :D

Hah, i would even consider those hevies for such a price it if those guys had Poland in their shipping costs:P Welcome, other third world countries:D

Good grief! What do you DO with 4 of each?

Good one.

Oh, and you also fill up almost any square af the basic 3x3 assembly tile starting line, or 75% of a 3x4 assembly. Maneuvering those beast in even a lightly cluttered battlefield should... interesting.

Must really enjoy painting to buy 4. Cant see using that many in a game, unless its a really big game and if you throw games that big, I want in on one!

That is nothing. I have 5 of the original core sets and two of the revised core sets as well. Big battles!

Exactly!

Actually, 4 of each for Axis platoons and 5 of each for Allies, should be the standard. I am already on that for the medium and light walkers.

This is madness!

No... this is DUST TACTICS! :D

Well it depends what are you looking for. ATM only old core set i found in Warsaw costs about 105 $ while they used to be sold for 75:/ So hvy walkers are a bit overpriced for me:D

Well, if I am to be honest with You, finding and old core set in Polish web stores would be a miracle right now. You have to rely on LGStores... and even if they have old core sets, they charge A LOT for them. The gaming store in Blue City wants about 120$ (400 PLN) for it...

So in short this topic is nothing more than a sad: "I have more than you lengua.gif " topic.

I'm sure this topic is about the heavy assault walkers being available so lets talk about the heavy assault walkers (and please don't just post how many you have of them).

What I want to know is: can I change the guns around on my walker to make the variants or is it fixed once it is build? The medium walkers allowed for the alternate versions to be made if and when you need them. Has anybody received their heavy walker (and didn't have to put them under the tree)?

You should be able to swap between the 2 variants.

I just got my 4 new heavies yesterday-2 axis 2 allied. They look great. As for game play im not sure yet. However I did play and still do play a lot of AT43 and when they released some of thier heavies it looked like the game would change. However with smart tactics and especially playing on a city scape board its a whole new ball game. There speed and the fact they have to pick and choose their paths makes them tougher to play than the other vehicles. Anyway just my thoughts. Hope it helps to inspire some to at least give them a try they do look fun to have on the table.

Having just opened my US walker the guns swap is a matter of 2 seconds. ALthough I would recommend the addition of some magnets to make it a little more stable, the fit seems a little loose. Otherwise everything else is assembled and ready for painting. The Axis walker again a 2 second change out. The nice part is the long guns are 2 piece so you can break down for storage. They both look great and easy to model and play with. However a drop to the floor could be a total disaster so be careful!!!

How far up do the Axis guns rotate? If I'm using them with terrain, I want to be able to maneuver them around.

It is not about "I have more than you," it is about filling out TOE in order to provide proper bounding overwatch support.

It would be nice to see some pics of these walkers in action...

I will take some tonight. Picking mine up on the way home for Dust night!

Since WW2 tanks ranged from two to seven for a platoon, what TO&E are you refering to? The German super-heavies were planned to be fielded in pairs, many of the Soviet heavies were fielded in pairs, and even some Allied tanks were fielded in pairs per platoon. A company of seven for the big or rare tanks was a fairly likely option.

I've got no problem with someone wanting to buy a lot of models for an impressive force when they play a big battle, but without official justification, a fan made TO&E is simply a home made excuse to buy more to have more. I've got a company of T-34/85's for when I want to field a Dasant Company for another game. I field them very rarely, because we don't often play games that size in that scale, but it's fun when we can.

Being able to field 500 points in heavy walkers would look cool in a 2000 point game, but even there would probably be a lopsided force compared to the fictional production 'realities.' It would fit up there with the people who field recon companies of Puma's, when only 125 were built for the entire war.

More power to you if you can afford it and enjoy it, but don't bother with meaningless double-speak to cover a simple desire to have more. I'd love to play in a game big enough for five heavy walkers to fit, but I can't afford it right now, so it would take a lot more effort coordinating it with other players.

For those who will have to work harder for it to happen, please take some pictures of some big battles and post them. I'd love to see them.

You have certianly provided this forum with a great many verbose posts.

After and quick activation ceremony on Sunday afternoon, we will be taking on all 125 Pumas so no one can claim to field them ever again in an future battles, and then a company of pesky "Just Because You Want to Have Them" T-34/85's, for good measure. partido_risa.gif

I'd rather take the time to make a point clearly, and have lots of time to post with because I'm retired. cool.gif It's easy enough for people to scroll past what I type if they don't want to read it.

Have fun with your battle with the Puma's. Field a few more if you feel like it. They've been one of the more popular armored car models for years because they look cool, even if few of them were actually built.

I don't care if people play with what Germany could never have fielded. The historian in me just finds it silly when it's done for an 'historical' scenario. I've played a lot of alternate history ideas before DUST came along, but when I play historical , I try to stay that way. I hadn't mentioned the people using hordes of Puma's were using them as historical units.

Have fun trying to run out of T-34's, however, as they built tens of thousands of the things. You should be able to play for years before you run out.

As I said, I think its great you have a plethora of heavy walkers, and would love to see pictures of them in action. I simply saw no reason to try and hide a desire to have more of them with make believe TO&E's. Buy what you want, play what you want, and have fun. If it's the way you like to play, and you have opponents that like it too, there's nothing wrong with it.

This is a game, after all, so enjoy it.

The axis AA guns rotate all the way up and then some. The long guns only move up maybe half an inch or so.

of course the big guns also stretch across to the table next to you as well...
