Heavy assault walker available

By Dakkon426, in Dust Tactics

With the big guns, the Konigsluther is just under 44' long in 1:48 scale, which puts it 10' longer than the Konigstiger, but with much bigger guns.

Not something to want to maneuver in small streets, but certainly something to reach out and touch enemy units with.

BTW, do any of armor units in DT have some "stomp" ability? It seems to be quite obvious, especially witch those multi legged heavies.

Nope. No "stomp" ability. While it certainly makes sense, it's something that would kinda break the game mechanic. The only think you can "stomp" in DT is ammo crates with any walker and tank traps with the allied heavy walkers.

I think its more of the any idiot would be able to get out of the way of it factor then anything else not the fact they have the potential to crush some under their feet.

Having just opened my US walker the guns swap is a matter of 2 seconds. ALthough I would recommend the addition of some magnets to make it a little more stable, the fit seems a little loose. Otherwise everything else is assembled and ready for painting. The Axis walker again a 2 second change out. The nice part is the long guns are 2 piece so you can break down for storage. They both look great and easy to model and play with. However a drop to the floor could be a total disaster so be careful!!!

How far up do the Axis guns rotate? If I'm using them with terrain, I want to be able to maneuver them around.

The axis AA guns rotate all the way up and then some. The long guns only move up maybe half an inch or so.

Thanks! I'm still waiting for mine to arrive and I wanted to figure out how easily I could move the model around with our 3D terrain.

I agree with that. It would be rather silly to say infantry weren't smart enough to move to the side with a vehicle that isn't really that fast.

Add to that the walkers' worry that said infantry might have a sticky bomb or other nasty surprise, and there's not much reason they would want to try it.

Why bring a foot to a gun fight?

Haha you brought up memories of this fine joke :D

Heavy walkers arrived in the mail today so here's a quick first impressions review.

The Axis walker is simply awesome to look at and really goes with the whole theme of the Axis Medium walkers. One interesting thing is that the turret "arms" on it can be put on a Medium walker and vice versa... Kind of funny to make an "Uber Lothar" with the Sturmkonig guns. cool.gif Based on stats and the fact that we play with alot of armor 2 infantry I'll probably keep it in the Sturmkonig configuration since rolling 10 dice against infantry Armor 2 with unlimited range is just too awesome, Advanced Reactive Fire and its damage of 7vsT.Armor 4 and 6vsT.Armor 6 is still pretty great since nothing can kill this in a single shot except a really lucky Fireball.

The Allied walker I was initially a bit worried about as the images online make it look a bit funny. I'm glad to report that having the real model in hand it is actually all kinds of awesome, you really need to see in person from a few different angles. The only thing I didn't like on the Walker was that the images all have the twin gun turret side by side.... Well you are able to actually turn that and even move it around as its a ball socket joint so you can have the guns vertical like "8" instead of "oo" which I think looks alot better. The Fireball variant is just a case of changing the front turret, the teeth and eye decal that are on the primed version was a nice touch. As for configuration this is one I'll probably keep flexible as both are really fantastic although I am partial to the Fireball as a range 3 flamethrower that rolls 2 dice per unit (minus T.Armor 6/7) will be simply devastating and it has "Scout Vehicle" which means it moves an additional 2 spaces on its first turn. sorpresa.gif Despite their size the models are very light so there's no worrying about broken legs.

I look forward to rolling 20 dice against an Infantry Armor 2 with the Allied Punisher...... Probably all misses! llorando.gif

The Steel Rain's Petard mortar can kill it with a single die roll. demonio.gif

Is the axis walker more than just a Jagdluther with an extra pair of legs?

Ah forgot about the Steel Rain, haven't been too lucky with it in games due to the 3-6 range issue and my opponents ability to take advantage of that weakness, the 4.2" Rockets on the other hand... demonio.gif

As for the Jagdluther the main body is a different model, very similar but it has a different hatch, twin machineguns and the back part behind the rear of it is different. One interesting thing is that the join between the legs and the body can't turn left to right, its a half circle with a flat edge, weird decision although I don't see a huge need to have the body turned from the legs.

Just got done doing a quick camo pattern on the Allied Walker, definetly makes the small flat parts of the model blend better. My wife likes it better than the Axis one although she's partial to turtles.

I just got 2 more heavies from that coolstuffinc site. Im thinking of converting them to puretroop transport walkers and playing with the stats a little as they would technically be lighter without the big guns and ammo. The allied one I have a good basic idea but need to develope one for the axis. Im thinking of getting a 1/35 scale hanamog and doing something with the crew compartment end, maybe enclose the top, add in some machine gun turrets, etc... ANy thoughts???

Finally got mine in at my local game store took its sweet time I don't blame FFG its just that I live in the analspincter of the gaming universe Albuquerque New Mexico and sometimes the Distrbutor for Allaince tends to forget that New Mexico is actualy a part of the United States and not Mexico oh well what can you do looking forward to playing this Bad Boy.

Seeyou on the Battlefield.
