Dragon Expansion Inner Region typo on Crypt/Mine?

By radiaki, in Talisman Rules Questions

On the original Inner Region The Crypt path goes against your Strength and the Mines go against your Craft. On the Dragon Inner Region, these are reversed on the board text; Craft in the Crypt and Strength in the Mines.

That change drasticaly changes the gameplay for the Inner Region maiking the new Strength based Mines path very easy to pass for a Strength based character. And the Crypt path you now need a high Craft and high Strength to pass successfully.

Was this change intentional?

Hey, you're right. It's amazing that nobody noticed this so far, me included. I haven't used the Dragon Realm yet, only Dragon Tower.

I think this is TYPO no.2 for the Dragon Realm board. After Covetous Dragon, which was easy to spot as something missing, there's also this unusual balance reverse. It makes no sense that you need to subtract Strength in Mines and Craft in Crypt. You already told us the reason why.

Too bad they just released the Erratas for Dragon Expansion and nobody told FFG there was something strange. Who wrote the text for the Dragon Realm board? Did he/she play Talisman at least once in his/her life?

I think that this is the intention for the board.

Both paths are very difficult

You need a High craft and strength on the craft path,

But the strength path has the vampire dragon,, but other than that, you need only high strength, and at least 4 craft, if you take that route.

Yesterday I played with the Dragon Realm and I noticed that the former "craft path" has Hatchlings with Craft and Mines with Strength, while the former "strength path" has Crypt with Craft and Hydra Dragon with Strength.

So, I have to withdraw my former post and agree with Velhart. I surely need to quiet down a little and think before writing.

For comparison...

[Original]

Crypt (High Strength), Dice with Death, Werewolf (High Strength)

Mines (High Craft), Vampire's Tower, Pitfiends (Med Strength)

[Dragon]

Crypt (High Craft), Covetous Dragon, Hydra Dragon (High Strength)

Mines (High Strength), Vampiric Dragon, Hatchery (Med Craft)
