New walker

By Hanomag, in Dust Tactics

Over at Dust Models FYI. It's a Mickey Recon walker. It looks kind coll but I would have thought it would have a big antenna or two.

Does look good, only available a a pre-paint though.

Does look pretty cool.

I love these units that are actually LESS powerful than the ones previously released. I hate the power creep. I wonder why they didn't show the stat card as well, now that they are allowed to have them. Well, I guess there's not much to wonder there. Same stats as the normal Mickey, but with an extra .50 MG and a twin .50 MG that does slightly more damage. Great walker for engaging multiple squads at the same time. It seems to have the Artillery Strike ability, from the text, so maybe it loses Self-Repair to gain that. And could it be that all the talk about "great speed" means it's not Fast, but actually Move 2? More likely it just has the Scout ability.

I would think it will be out in the regular Dust 48 line before long. It took the Mikey ARV a bit of time before the preprint showed up.

Only Mickey has Self-repair I believe, probably due to the crew from the comic rather than the ability of the tank itself, so no self-repair here either. Definately Atrillery Strike and probably Scout and/or Fast rather than speed 2. Might even only be A3 or 3 Wounds due to the vulnerability of an open top. Will also have Jump like all the other M2 class.

Notice that it can also call in an Airstrike? Maybe a little hint on how aircraft will work in the game.

I'm sure it will, like the normal Mickey, have Jump and Fast. But I agree that it will probably lose the Auto-Repair in order to gain Artillery Strike and probably Scout. It would be interesting to see it with reduced armor, either Armor 3 or 3 Health. I'd prefer 3 Health, as it keeps it in the "medium walker" range.

And very nice catch on the airstrike thing. Would definitely be cool of the aircraft have that ability, we sure need to get more use out of these Observer units.

Hi,
It's fun to see where the inspiration comes from the creators.

Take one unpainted allied medium walker add 'allies tank crew set #1', some plasticard, an extra .50 cal, a whip aerial and plenty of stowage and you've got a 'micky recce walker'.

I would not want to be in an open-topped walker that jumps.

Especially if the driver owed me money... "Oops! Accidentally jumped and hit the bottom of that bridge... I guess I don't owe Charley $200 anymore..."

I would not want to be in an enclosed walker when it jumps! Some things should stay on the ground. Walkers and Elephants are two of them.

I like the look of the recon mickey. Now i need to order it and the barking dog when my tax check get here next year.

LOL @ the jumping stuff!

How about spotter for the recon mickey? There`s a guy with some binoculars after all...

Is this available anywhere to purchase yet?

Whoa! It surely isn'y cheap, almost 150% of a new/old core set...

Eh? 65$ is the norm for the pre paint walkers. It works out to be $20 for the paint job which I don't think is too bad. Of course this means you have to be ok spending full retail for the walker at $45.

Yech, OK my bad, prices got a bit schaken in my mind.. Anyway it acually brings me memories of kangaroo canadian troop transport (or british, not sure) vehicle_ram6.jpg

Canadian Kangaroo. Based on the Canadian Ram, their version of the Sherman tank, just remove the turret and you have an armored infantry carrier.

My impression of the Recon Mikey was more of a Vietnam Era ACAV.

Henry

Well, i wil, stand by Kangaroo ;) Anyway for me it's stupid, remove the turret with the big guns to get some HMG's:P Ofc ofc i know recon etc. but still from let's say battle point of view it's silly:D

Bifidus, can you tell me what brand that model is you show in your pictures?
