Tears of Lys in Baratheon deck - Worth it?

By Thanos Voidseeker, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

I am currently building my full 60-card Baratheon deck, (after playing a few reconnaissance fights with the starter deck alone) using the starter set and several chapter decks. One of the cards that really caught my eye was the attachment Tears of Lys.

Alas, it is Targaryen.

And then I thought, it only costs 1 gold, so 3 for me if I play it in my deck. Given the fact that I have very few characters with the Intrigue icon (6 I think) and even less than that with the deadly keyword, I think it is very much worth paying 3 gold for it.

I currently put it 2 times in my deck but I'd like a second opinion about it.

Another card that I also liked was the Horn of Dragons (Greyjoy attachment) . Granted, it would be steep to pay 4 gold for it but maybe it would fit once in my deck. Opinions?

In the current meta-game, attachments are quite vulnerable; most houses field some form of attachment control. Even without that, attachments are doubly vulnerable to control; anything that kills or incapacitates the character they are attached to affects them, and anything that targets them specifically.

That doesn't mean attachments are useless, but that you have to think long and hard about actually including one. There are other ways to get intrigue icons in Baratheon; more Asshai Characters, core "Selyse Baratheon", etc. Still, mileage will vary. The best recommendation I can make is "try to play it, see if it works for you".

Hello.

In my opinion, better attachment to use in Bara out-of-house is devious intention, because with all renown in Bara you don’t need to move power on it to gain full advantage from it effect.

But the best option I think is court advisor. It neutral so it cost 1, and give you a draw (from passive effect, which cannot be canceled, which is quiet important nowadays) and Bara decks rarely gets draw cup.

Horn of Dragons is good in houses which have got traits manipulation, and Bara doesn’t have (but you can always you it with The Songs of Bael the Bard, but in my opinion, it is not worth it.
