does a boon cancel a chaos star?

By Emirikol, in WFRP Rules Questions

Noob question: does a boon and/or a comet cancel a chaos star? I can't find the page reference and I'm in the middle of a game.

Thanks,

jh

No, although sometimes is a bit difficult to interpret in game terms, they don't cancel to each other!

Have fun!

A chaos star can be used by the GM as a bane I believe, and in that case it would cancel a boon (or be canceled by a boon). But otherwise boons or comets do not cancel chaos stars.

The short answer is now, of course, but I have run into situations where a comet and chaos star were both rolled and there was no obvious wait to use both. So for the sake of time, I ruled that they canceled one another out. This was completely GM interpretation and I knew it at the time.

On a side note, I really hate that there is no edit button, because I always find one typo after I hit "Publish."

This. A boon nor comet cancel a chaos star itself. However, a chaos star can be used as a bane, which would then be able to be canceled by a boon.

Similarly, the comet can be used as a boon, which can then cancel (or be canceled by) a bane.
