Octgn Tourney Jan 9th-Feb 12th Sign up by Jan 7th

By Staton, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Apologies for the double post, but since the tourney will begin in January, do you think Lions of the Rock will be legal for play? I'm guessing it all depends on whether or not the OCTGN plug-in for it will be available by then. (And assuming it is released Q4)

also, if a match isnt played both players are dropped? so if my opponent changes his mind or get hits by a car and we cant play i am also eliminated as well? sounds weird.

In events like this, just report the match as you having won due to the opponent not showing up.

Yeah if Lions of the Rock is available then it will be legal. I'm going to make the stipulation that for anything to be legal it has to have been released by January 6th. That way people at least have the weekend to look at the new cards.

I actually have some qualms about using censored cards on OCTGN for the tourney. Gualdo's OCTGN cardsets include all cards currently released, but as per agreement with FFG, cards released in the last 6 months are censored to omit the text. I realize that most of us probably know our maester chains in and out by now, and if Gualdo is willing under those terms, he could even uncensor the first three Maester Packs... but for ToC CP or Lions of the Rock cards, I'm sure I'll find myself constantly looking them up mid-game to ensure that I know the exact wording, especially since I doubt I'll have physical copies of either by then out here in the boonies.

I'll of course abide by the rules of the tournament, but I just thought I'd voice my concern about these potentially problematic and game-slowing cards.

I understand your concerns Istaril, and the people who are helping me organize this tournament and I had a long discussion about including the cards that are censored or not. We ultimately decided to include those cards in an attempt to reflect the current competitive environment. I apologize for the inconvenience this is going to cause certain players, but I hope you can understand the reasons for why we included those card sets.

Love to do this, but haven't ever had the time to get OCTGN set up/learn how to play. Is there thread/guide around here detailing how to get it up and running w/ AGoT? (Last time I had a second to glance over it, I understood the gist of installing OCTGN, but getting it to work w/ AGoT seemed a tad harrowing)

If anyone can point me in the right direction, sign me up:

[uS] ilhalter @ gmail.com (w/o the spaces)

Here's the thread with all the links

It's not too bad to install:

-Go to octgn.net (the 2nd link in that thread) and it tells you how to install it.

-Then download the game file, start Octgn, go to 'Manage installed games' and install the file.

-Then download all the LCG card sets and install them. You do that from the 'Manage installed games' screen too.

-Then make some decks! Octgn has it's own deck editor, but cardgamedb.com and agotcards.org also have deckbuilders that can export octgn files. Just don't use any of the cards that have been spoiled but not released yet, as there's no octgn plugin for them and it will give you an error.

Hmmm just to make sure you are meaning the North/South American bracket correct?

Correct. Thanks.

Can I play for the illustrious nation of Sealand?

I'm afraid not. However, you are welcome to sign up for the American bracket! Actually would you mind spreading the word to the rest of your meta? I know you guys have quite a few people who don't read the forums.

Thanks for doing this, Josh. As an explanation for the failed attempt to run one of these a couple of months ago, several players were hesitant to give away any secrets for the upcoming big November tournaments, so I held off. This time of the year I'm pretty busy, so this is a big help. I always enlisted Gualdo to help out with running the European side, so you may want to ask him or Alberto to do that, if you like.

Either way, I'll be up for playing: [email protected]

NP Jonathan. Glad to help! I'm pretty excited to see what kind of deck you are going to be running. ~I'm guessing it will make me want to quit after turn 37.

I just got an email confirmation that we will have at least one player from China! He will be playing in the EU bracket and making accommodations for the time difference. I'm kinda excited to see what the Chinese meta is like!

A note to everyone: if it's possible, please install skype and buy microphone. Playing without it is tiresome and error prone.

In an effort to accurately "reflect the current competitive environment," you're going to abstain from playing, Amiright, Josh?

Hey maybe you'll get lucky and get paired with him! Are you permanently in India? Or just temporarily? I know that the China guy said there were some other players there. I'm hoping to get some more players from there, if not this tourney then the next. We also have at least one player from Greece.

I'm now living quasi permanently in India. A little part of the french meta (we are 4 french exiled players here !) form the Indian meta gran_risa.gif
