What do apprentice wizards get free at creation vs. have to buy?

By Ceodryn, in WFRP Rules Questions

Hi,

I am trying to re-create the apprentice wizard, Diedrich Scheffler, from "A Day Late, A Schilling Short" scenario to learn how to create apprentice wizards PCs.

However, I can't seem to re-create it using all 25 creation points, and I am wondering what I am missing.

Here is what I came up with:

  • Characteristics: 22 points (3 for ST, 3 for TO, 3 for AG, 9 for INT, 4 for WP)
  • Talents: 0 point (since acquiring "Order" is free for apprentice wizard, being a dedicated talent - Am I right that it is free?)
  • Skills: 1 point for 2 skills (trained Discipline, acquired Education)
  • Wealth: 1 point to be poor (Diedrich doesn't look broke to me with the gear he is carrying)
  • Actions: 0 points for 1 actions (Acquire "Pool of shadows", since "Channel Power" action is free for apprentice wizards

Total = 24 points... 1 is missing. Thus, why wouldn't Diedrich buy another action/spell or talent?

Thanks in advance

I have't done the math to double check the characters from A Day Late, but everything you say is correct. Additionally, I have heard from several people that the pregen characters from A Day Late are not 100% rank 1 (0 xp) characters. For example, Brigitta has a pistol which no 0 xp character can afford as far as I know.
