A little Help please.

By Smairn, in Talisman

Hi all.

I had a big game of talisman at the weekend and there was a bit of arguing over a possibly grey area, what im asking is, is there any advice you can give me and if you have come across this what did you do?

The problem is: A player was on the oasis space and he had to draw 3 adventure cards due to another card making him draw an extra one. The first card was the Craft 10 deamon the second was the genie and the third was the healer i think.

i cant remember what the order the genie and the healer were but the deamon was to be encountered first. The player was defeated by the deamon but insisted he was still able to collect the genie and use the healer, which i never allowed due to the rule that once you lose a battle or have a stand off your turn ends immediatly. he was unhappy at this and insisted that on the next turn he would be able to get the genie and healer and not fight the deamon. the rule we all decided on except the player fighting the genie was that he could move away on his next turn but the only way he (or anyone) could get to the genie or healer they would have to go through the deamon first. was i right there? is the genie and healer unuseable until the deamon is defeated?

sorry for the long explaination. if ive not explained well i'd be glad to try again!

You're exactly right on this issue.

If you want to use an object, stanger or place (for example), and there's a Monster in the way, then you must either defeat or evade that Monster. Pretty straightforwards :)

This is exactly why there are small numbers printed on the cards in the lower right corner, you must always encounter the lowest number first (unless you got the magpie). and i think the daemon is a "1" so . . No dead daemon, no happy healer gran_risa.gif

Smairn:

As others have said, you were right.

If you want a reference:

Encounters Page 9 of the rulebook: ( http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/Talisman/Talisman%20Rules2.pdf )

Adventure Cards must be dealt with in the order determined by their encounter number, starting with the lowest number, then the next lowest, and so on. In the case of a tie, in character encounters Aventure Cards in the order they were drawn.

After any Enemies in the space are killed or evaded , any Stranger or Place there must be visited and any gold, Objects, and Followers may be taken.

Thanks guys. good to know i can get advice when i need it.

Got another 6 player arranged for this weekend so no doubt we'll have another few disputes. my highland expansion should hopefully arrive tomorrow as well.

cheers
